Bold programming pays off with an opera that has its demands but offers rewards in equal measure

The Savannah VOICE Festival is swinging into its tenth anniversary season with five different operas produced by Savannah OPERA this August.  These out of this world productions range from a revue of Broadway’s Brigadoon to Goethe’s Faust, plus Menotti’s The Medium, and more.

The Greek National Opera’s 2022-23 season curated by GNO Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis will feature ten new opera and ballet productions, one newly commissioned opera, five revivals of past productions, music concerts, major co-productions with some of the world’s foremost opera houses, collaborations with leading conductors and more.

Tales of Midas, Orpheus, Aphrodite, Lucina, Alcyone, Iris, Phaeton, and Ceyx cohese together like a perfectly simmered, aromatic stew of human passion, sex, humor, greed, whimsey, and heartbreak in a rare revival of Mary Zimmerman's multi-award winning theatrical event, METAMORPHOSIS at A Noise Within.

LIFT, the leading London biennial festival of international theatre, has today announced the programme for LIFT 2022 - the first full festival to be presented by Artistic Director and CEO Kris Nelson and Executive Director Stella Kanu following the cancellation of LIFT 2020 due to the pandemic.

Americana and the Golden Age of the Broadway musical has happily landed at the Shaw Festival in their knock it out of the park production of DAMN YANKEES. After years without a staged musical at the Festival Theatre and repeated cancellations of it's production of GYPSY (thanks Covid!), the magic of the American musical comedy can be seen once again.

In the epoch of the Anthropocene, Parvathi Nayar looks to the essential elements of life: air and water, to explore that which connects us all. In BreatheWater, she looks at the existence of diatoms, microscopic organisms with walls of porous glass that are found in water, especially the oceans.

EXPO CHICAGO, the international exposition of contemporary and modern art, concluded its ninth edition on Sunday, April 10, with strong attendance of international collectors and curators alongside 30,000 visitors, exceptional presentations from exhibiting galleries and strong sales, in what was its most global edition to date.

Goethe-Institut Boston announces spring and summer events by its 2022 Studio 170 Artists-In-Residence. An initiative to feature New England-area artists, Studio 170 provides artists and audiences an open, lively place for inspiration, experimentation and open discourse in the heart of Boston.

The Greek National Opera (GNO) will present a revival of its 2012 production of Charles Gounod’s Faust with eight performances April 6 through 17. The production, which premiered in 2012 at Megaron–The Athens Concert Hall, will be presented at the Stavros Niarchos Hall for the first time, conducted by Pierre Dumoussaud and directed by Renato Zanella. 

Baryshnikov Arts Center will present the New York premiere of Minneapolis-based choreographer and dancer Ashwini Ramaswamy’s Let the Crows Come, an experimental Bharatanatyam work, and a “Best of Dance 2021” selection by The Washington Post. Performances will take place Wednesday–Friday, April 13–15, at 8pm, at BAC’s Jerome Robbins Theater, 450 West 37th Street, in Manhattan.
