On Friday 6 December 2013 whilst visiting New York, Declan Bennett, who plays Guy in the West End production of Once, dropped in to visit Arthur Darvill and Joanna Christie who play Guy and Girl in the Broadway production. They met on the shows onstage bar at the Bernard B. Jacob's Theatre where they swapped anecdotes about performing on both sides of the Atlantic in this multi-award winning production. Once the Musical opened this past Thursday at Toronto's gorgeous Royal Alexandra Theatre, proving to Torontonians that a musical doesn't need to be big, brassy and full of fancy special effects to move an audience and shake their emotional core.

The lineup for Holiday Cheer for FUV, the benefit concert for WFUV (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) at the Beacon Theatre on December 10, 2013 at 8 p.m. has gotten even stronger. The public radio station announced today that Beth Orton and Amos Lee will join Iron & Wine and Friends, also including Calexico, Nick Lowe, Kathleen Edwards and Glen Hansard.

ONCE, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will play the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre for a limited one-week engagement, January 28 through February 2. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, November 22 at 10 a.m.

The cast of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best musical ONCE welcomes Paul Nolan to the role of 'Guy' beginning Tuesday, December 17. Arthur Darvill will play his final performance on Sunday, December 15.

Nico Muhly's opera Two Boys has its North American premiere at the Met tiday, October 21, in a production conducted by David Robertson and directed by Bartlett Sher. The two-act opera, which features a libretto by award-winning playwright Craig Lucas, is loosely based on true events and follows a lonely detective whose investigation of a seemingly simple crime draws her into a complex web of online intrigue. Alice Coote sings the role of Detective Inspector Anne Strawson and Paul Appleby sings Brian, the 16-year-old boy at the center of her investigations. Sher's staging, a co-production with English National Opera, premiered in London in 2011.
