The Double Bill Of IOLANTA/BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE Returns To The Met Repertory January 24

The Metropolitan Opera presents a double bill of two rarely performed one-act operas, Tchaikovsky's romantic fairy tale Iolanta and Bartók's harrowing Bluebeard's Castle, with six performances January 24 to February 14, 2019. Iolanta stars Sonya Yoncheva in the title role of a blind princess and Matthew Polenzani as Vaudémont, the knight who loves her. Bluebeard's Castle stars Angela Denoke as Judith, an innocent young bride who discovers the terrifying truth about her new husband, the menacing Bluebeard, sung by Gerald Finley. Henrik Nánási makes his Met debut conducting both operas, which are presented in a production by acclaimed director Mariusz Trelinski.

Camerata New York To Present The Messiah

Camerata New York, now in its 18h year, kicks off the holiday season with the glorious and eternal masterpiece, Handel's Messiah with the St. Jean Baptiste Festival Chorus and top soloists in St. Jean Baptiste Church, NYC on Sat. Dec. 15 at 7:30PM "The audience is in for an exceptional presentation of all three segments of Handel's masterpiece; starting with the Annunciation, Passion, and concluding with the celebration of our Lord's resurrection. It is a great honor and glorious opportunity for the orchestra, myself, the singers and soloists to present this Beautiful work which celebrates our savior in selections from the Old and New Testament."

Yannick Nézet-Séguin Conducts A Rare Revival Of Debussy's Pelléas Et Mélisande, Opening January 15

Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducts five performance of Pelléas et Mélisande, Debussy's mysterious meditation on love and betrayal, January 15–31, 2019. The classic production by Sir Jonathan Miller returns to the Met for the first time since the 2010–11 season, and the cast features three young Met stars at the heart of a passionate love triangle: Isabel Leonard as Mélisande, Paul Appleby as Pelléas, and Kyle Ketelsen as Golaud. Ferruccio Furlanetto sings the role of Arkel and Marie-Nicole Lemieux makes her Met debut as Geneviève. Derrick Inouye conducts the January 31 performance.

Tafelmusik Presents World Premiere Of THE HARLEQUIN SALON

Tafelmusik brings an 18th-century Roman soiree to vivid life with The Harlequin Salon, a new multimedia program created, scripted, and illustrated by Tafelmusik oboist and artist Marco Cera. Combining music, caricature sketches, projected images, costumes, and text, The Harlequin Salon opens a door into the glittering world of Pier Leone Ghezzi - renowned painter, consummate party host, and history's first professional caricaturist. The Harlequin Salon features guest artists Roberta Invernizzi, soprano, and Dino Goncalves, actor, with stage direction by Guillaume Bernardi (Frankfurt Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Trisha Brown Dance Company). The world premiere performances take place January 16 to 20, 2019 at Jeanne Lamon Hall, Trinity-St. Paul's Centre. Full program details are available at tafelmusik.org.

Berkeley Rep Announces Full Cast For METAMORPHOSES

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Metamorphoses. This co-production with the Guthrie Theater is led by nationally and internationally renowned writer and director Mary Zimmerman.

Cast Announced for STC's RICHARD THE THIRD

After his hit production of King Charles III, David Muse returns to Shakespeare Theatre Company to direct Shakespeare's Richard the Third, a mesmerizing chronicle of the megalomaniac's rampage to the throne. The production will play at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from February 5-March 10, 2019.

BWW Review: NACHTWACHT - DE POORT DER ZIELEN at Kinepolis Utrecht: now in cinemas in Belgium and The Netherlands!

Nachtwacht De Poort Der Zielen is the first film made for the big screen after a succesful television series in The Netherlands and Belgium. Nachtwacht is about a supernatural trio (Vladimir, Wilko and Keelin) who all have magical powers and their magical tutor Vega. They live in a small village Schemermeer, which doubles as a portal with the underworld, where monsters appear in human form.

BWW Review: GLITZ! THE LITTLE MISS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT MUSICAL at Pantochino Productions

GLITZ! THE LITTLE MISS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT MUSICAL is an excellent musical comedy with an extremely talented cast of both adults and youth. The music is original and of high quality. The comedy is legitimately funny and the cast enjoy playing their roles as much as the audience enjoys watching them perform. I highly recommend this production.
