Four-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee Christel Bartelse brings her signature high-energy wit to The Next Stage Theatre Festival with The Surprise, her fifth solo show. Bartelse, as her clown Ginger, is throwing a surprise party -- and she needs help. Fortunately, that's where you come in. Literally! The Surprise is a hilariously inventive clown-based immersive experience that's guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Who's invited? Why, the audience, of course -- and they'll be in on the action. Who's the guest of honour? That's part of the surprise! What's the dessert situation? Fear not:

Enjoy a treasured holiday tradition with family and friends at southern California's most spectacular production of The Nutcracker from critically acclaimed Inland Pacific Ballet. The Nutcracker comes to life in this magnificent ballet comprised of beautiful sets, dazzling costumes, and more than 80 dancers on stage with a total of 10 performances from December 9-23 at three theatres Bridges Auditorium, Pomona College in Claremont, Lewis Family Playhouse in Rancho Cucamonga, and the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside.

Presented by CAPA, the Lincoln Theatre Association, and the King Arts Complex, The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a contemporary re-imagining of Tchaikovsky's timeless music performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, an on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist. Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop's founding fathers, will kick off the show with a short set and then rap the introduction.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica and Eva Price present Small Mouth Sounds by Drama Desk Award winner Bess Wohl (Pretty Filthy), and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) for three weeks only, January 11 through 28 with a press opening on January 12.

The producers of IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS have announced full casting for the North American Tour of IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS.

New York City Ballet will open its annual season of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker on Friday, November 24 at 8 p.m. at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
