Melba Moore In The Gospel Musical 'Crowns' Presented By Arsht Center And M Ensemble Company

Two of Miami's most respected performing arts organizations are collaborating to bring the gospel musical CROWNS to South Florida audiences during Black History Month 2011. The M Ensemble Company opens its 2010-2011 season with its debut performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County with the gospel musical CROWNS by Regina Taylor. Adapted from the book by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry, CROWNS runs from February 2-6, 2011 in the Adrienne Arsht Center's Carnival Studio Theater.

Burning Coal Presents CROWNS, 12/2-19

Burning Coal Theatre Company, a small professional theatre based in Raleigh, North Carolina announces its upcoming production of Crowns by Regina Taylor, directed by Rebecca Holderness. The production will run December 2 - 19, 2010 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $15 for students, seniors and active military. Thursday night tickets are $10 apiece. Student rush tickets are available at every performance for $5 apiece, availability pending.

NICHOLAS by Conor McPherson, directed by Randolph Curtis Rand (November 4 - 21, 2010), CROWNS by Regina Taylor, directed by Rebecca Holderness (December 2 - 19, 2010), BLUE by Kelly Doyle, directed by Mark Sutch (January 13 - 30, 2011) and THE SHAPE OF THE TABLE by David Edgar, directed by Jerome Davis (April 7 - 24, 2011).

Goodman Theatre Presents the TRINITY RIVER PLAYS, Closes 12/5

Goodman Theatre and Dallas Theater Center's world-premiere co-production of The Trinity River Plays by Goodman Artistic Associate ReGina Taylor is directed by Ethan McSweeny. The trilogy includes Jarfly, Rain and Ghoststory and spans nearly half a century in the life of Iris Sparks and her matriarchal Texas family. Karen Aldridge (The Good Negro, The Cook) leads the ensemble cast of The Trinity River Plays as Iris; stage and screen star Penny Johnson Jerald (The Larry Sanders Show, What's Love Got to Do With It) plays Iris' protective mother Rose; Jacqueline Williams (The Story, The Brother/Sister Plays) is Rose's sister Daisy, Christiana Clark (59E59: Pure Confidence) portrays Iris' rebellious cousin Jasmine; Jefferson A. Russell (The Wire) is Jasmine's stepfather, Ray Earl, in Jarfly, and Iris' ex-husband, Frank, in Rain and Ghoststory; and Samuel Ray Gates (McCarter: The Brother/Sister Plays) is Jack, Iris' love interest, in Ghoststory. The Trinity River Plays runs January 15 - February 20, 2011 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre following an engagement at Dallas Theater Center, November 5 - December 5, 2010.
