The BROADWAY SINGS concert series will present its 10th show this February with Broadway Sings Billy Joel. A cast of 20 Broadway stars, including Corey Cott, Lilla Crawford, and Betsy Wolfe, will sing completely new arrangements of the Piano Man's greatest hits. The performers will be accompanied by a jazz orchestra playing original orchestrations. Previous artists honored in the series include Adele, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Sara Bareilles.
Vineyard Theatre's 2015-2016 season began Wednesday, November 11 at 8pm when the new musical comedy GIGANTIC began previews at The Acorn Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street), where it plays through December 20. GIGANTIC features a book by Randy Blair (PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE, SPIDERMUSICAL) and Tim Drucker (PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE, SPIDERMUSICAL), music by Matthew roi Berger (SPIDERMUSICAL), lyrics by Randy Blair, choreography by Chase Brock (SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK) and will be directed by Scott Schwartz (BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL). Following multiple sold out engagements, Charlie Rosen's Broadway Big Band returns to the intimate Manhattan venue 54 Below on Saturday August 22nd to continue an official residence for 2015. The 9:30 PM concert, helmed by director Max Friedman, features returning guest vocalists Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening, American Idiot), Hannah Elless (Godspell, Steve Martin & Edie Brickell's Bright Star), Rebecca Naomi Jones (Hedwig and The Angry Inch, American Idiot), Janet Krupin (Bring It On, If/Then), Lauren 'LOLO' Pritchard (DCD2 Recording Artist, Spring Awakening), and Ciara Renee? (Big Fish, Pippin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), plus the Broadway Big Band debuts of Nicholas Christopher (Motown The Musical, Whorl Inside A Loop) and Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect, The Book of Mormon, Dear Evan Hansen). Friedman and Rosen co-produce the series.
