Maxwell Caulfield Co-Stars with Rachel Sorsa in HELEN at Getty Villa, Now thru 9/29

The Getty Museum and Playwrights' Arena in Los Angeles is pleased to offer Euripides' Helen, the seventh annual outdoor theatrical production in the Getty Villa's Barbara and Lawrence Fleischman Theater. Presenting a surprising twist on the legend of Helen of Troy, Euripides' rarely performed Helen will feature a cast of thirteen led by distinguished actor Maxwell Caulfield as Menelaos, King of Sparta, and Rachel Sorsa as Helen. Directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera, artistic director of Los Angeles-based Playwrights' Arena, this production debuts a new adaptation by playwright Nick Salamone and a score by composer and musical director David O.

Golden Globe Award winner CYBILL SHEPHERD, who made her Broadway debut when she took on the role of Alice Russell in the 2012 Tony Award nominated Broadway revival of Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN, has left the show due to her mother being ill.

BWW Interviews: Actor Maxwell Caulfield Talks Helen and Other Career Choices Onstage

Actor/singer Maxwell Caulfield became an instant heartthrob in 1982 when Grease 2 hit the big screen. He also created a sensation in TV's Dynasty and The Colbys and has essayed countless MOWs on TV and stage plays internationally. Without question he has turned into a fine dramatic actor over the last 30 years. Originally from Great Britain, Caulfield has been married to actress Juliet Mills since 1980. He is currently rehearsing Euripides' Helen as King Menelaus at the Getty Villa in Malibu which opens September 6. In our chat he talks about Helen, some of his recent stage roles and those he would like to play.

Angelica Page's TURNING PAGE Begins 10/11 at Cherry Lane Theatre

Barbara Ligeti, by special arrangement with The Private Theatre (John Gould Rubin, Artistic Director) and Sacred Monsters, presents the world premiere of a new solo show, Turning Page, written and performed by Angelica Page (Gore Vidal's The Best Man) with direction by Tony Award® nominee Wilson Milam (The Lieutenant of Inishmore). Performances begin Thursday, October 11, 2012 for a limited engagement through Sunday, October 28, 2012 at The Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street).

Circle in the Square's Theodore Mann to Be Remembered with New Tribute Page

As a special homage to Theodore Mann, Circle in the Square's co-founder, artistic director, and co-producer who passed away on February 24th of this year, Circle in the Square Theatre School is inviting the theater-going public, the theater community and those who worked with him to share their remembrances of Mann and the over 175 productions that he with Jose Quintero, and later with Paul Libin brought to the stage.

Director Barbara Harrison has directed and developed new work for Ars Nova's ANT FEST, Writopia Lab, The Lark Play Development Center, Manhattan Theatre Source's Estrogenius Festival, Red Fern Theatre Company's Dark Night Series, NYU Tisch, The Gallery Players, EBE Ensemble, ESPA Primary Stages, Roots & Wings Theatrical, Ground Up Productions, Coffee Black Productions, Geraldine Page Salon Series, Sparkification Productions, and the Network One-Act Festival. Barbara has assistant directed for companies such as Clubbed Thumb, Manhattan Theatre Club, Here Arts Center, and Neighborhood Productions. She currently serves as Programming Fellow for Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation and has worked in artistic programming/administration for Lark Play Development Center, Ars Nova Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Disney Theatrical.
