The 2012-2013 Concerts from the Library of Congress season offers a packed lineup of 40 concerts, lectures, film screenings, master classes and workshops, all celebrating the rich tapestry of the nation's musical heritage. Concerts kick off tonight, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m., with a performance by the Moscow Sretensky Monastery Choir.

The 2012-2013 Concerts from the Library of Congress season offers a packed lineup of 40 concerts, lectures, film screenings, master classes and workshops, all celebrating the rich tapestry of the nation's musical heritage. New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Music Director Jacques Lacombe will be knighted by the National Order of Quebec, the Order has announced. According to the Order, its titleholders "are outstanding individuals who have helped increase Quebec's renown and left a strong, lasting mark on all or part of Quebec itself." "It is an honor to receive this recognition from the National Order of Quebec," Lacombe says, "not only as a musician but also as a person who believes in making connections with the communities in which I work-in Canada, in the United States and abroad." "We are proud that Quebec is recognizing Jacques for the exceptional artistry and leadership that the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and its patrons across and beyond the state have witnessed in the two years he has been Music Director," says NJSO President & CEO Andre Gremillet. "The honor is richly deserved." Since becoming the NJSO's Music Director in October 2010, Lacombe has garnered praise from critics and audiences for his creative programming and his talents at the podium. Lacombe created an ambitious multi-year initiative that the Orchestra began in his inaugural season, 2010-11.

The Chicago Sinfonietta, under the leadership of Music Director Mei-Ann Chen, will present Past Tense, Future Tense at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago on Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 pm. Past Tense; Future Tense pays homage to the orchestra's inception under Paul Freeman in 1987 and will celebrate the orchestra's anniversary with throw back ticket prices of $18 each (for this concert only). Additionally, children's tickets are free with the purchase of adult admission.

Alexandre Dumas' timeless epic, The Three Musketeers, comes to the Melodrama stage in an adaptation by Kit Wilder that is full of daring duels and fast paced adventure. With direction by Katie Mack-Montenegro, set design by Brian Williams, costume design by Renee Van Niel, and fight choreography by Mr. Wilder, this swahsbuckling adventure follows a band of heroes in 17th century Paris who set out to defend the French Queen's honor and save her country from war.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival recently announced more casting for its 2012 season. Among them are nine actors who have graced the Festival stages before and whom Festival guests will certainly be excited to see again. These familiar faces include Leslie Brott, Sara Griffin, Michael Harding, Phil Hubbard, A. Bryan Humphrey, Ben Jacoby, Max Robinson, Tina Scariano, and George Walker. The comedy Greater Tuna, written by Joe Sears, Jaston Williams, and Ed Howard, directed by Bradley J. Carroll and starring Billy Breed and George Walker kicks off the 2012 season at The Great American Melodrama.

Music Director Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra present Beethoven's Third and Fifth Symphonies on a program that runs March 30-April 1 in Newark and New Brunswick. The program opens with the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winner and Montclair, New Jersey, resident George Walker's Sinfonia No. 4 (Strands), which the Orchestra co-commissioned as part of its New Jersey Roots Project.
