HBO Documentary Films has acquired the U.S. television rights to HERBLOCK: THE BLACK & THE WHITE

John F. Kennedy: Years of Lightning, Day of Drums – the noted 1964 documentary narrated by Gregory Peck about the fallen president'sthousand days in office – has been meticulously restored and remastered and will get a special DVD release November 12 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE).

JFK Remembered: 50 Years Later – a new documentary from Robert Kline, the producer and director of the well-received 2008 documentary The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings – will be included in the bonus material for the JFK 50 Year Commemorative Ultimate Collector's Editionbeing released November 12 on Blu-ray by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The new documentary will also be available individually.

On November 5, Warner Home Video will debut East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant (a George Stevens production), remastered Blu-ray as the James Dean Ultimate Collector's Edition

Earlier today, President Barack Obama presented the National Medal of Arts in conjunction with the National Humanities Medals. The medals were presented by the President during an East Room ceremony at the White House. The National Medal of Arts is a White House initiative managed by the National Endowment for the Arts. Each year, the NEA organizes and oversees the National Medal of Arts nomination process and notifies the artists of their selection to receive a medal, the nation's highest honor for artistic excellence.

As reported by the Washington Post on Thursday, The Kennedy Center has announced revisions to its selection process for the Kennedy Center Honors, after last year's criticisms from Hispanic advocacy groups that Latinos had long been excluded. These changes come after a seven-month review, during which a committee heard from many leaders of the Hispanic community.
