On Friday, March 6, noted arranger Fred Barton will bring the music of Broadway and the American Songbook showmanship to the Schimmel Center at Pace University in American Showstoppers: An Evening of Irving Berlin. Hailed by George Gershwin as 'the greatest songwriter that has ever lived,' the legendary Irving Berlin composed some of the most influential and widely-known songs ever written, many of which have come to form the Great American Songbook. Fred Barton now brings the power of Berlin's Broadway sound front and center, with a hot 14-piece orchestra and a cast of 17 Broadway singers and dancers, and direction and choreography by Jason Wise.

The Las Vegas Philharmonic's guest vocalist Sylvia McNair to be replaced by Niki Scalera for its Pops Concert: A Gershwin Valentine on Saturday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. at The Smith Center. The Pops Series concert to feature George Gershwin's well-known melodies conducted by Peter Bay, Music Director of the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

The Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street) box office opens today Friday, February 6 for tickets to An American In Paris. Following an acclaimed tryout at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, An American In Paris begins final rehearsals for Broadway on Monday, February 9. Previews begin Friday, March 13, 2015 for a Sunday, April 12, 2015 opening night.

Mark Bebbington has a knack for finding and bringing to the spotlight either lost or forgotten pieces by important musical personalities - having already premiered (and recorded) the Vaughan Williams Fantasy For Piano and Orchestra, a complete John Ireland CD cycle and the piano music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tadesco. Most recently he opened the American Symphony Orchestra's Carnegie Hall season with Richard Strauss's little-known left-had piano concerto, Parergon. That's in addition to all the expected Rach 2's and Griegs and Schumanns. But his latest discovery should hold particular fascination, especially for Londoners.
