Berkshire Theatre Group welcomes the Mount Holyoke Jazz Ensembles 10th annual The Big Broadcast! hosted by WWLP-TV personality Brian Lapis tonight, March 13, 2015 at 7pm at The Colonial Theatre.

Next spring, Tony Award winners Audra McDonald, George C. Wolfe, and Savion Glover will team up to collaborate on SHUFFLE ALONG, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, a musical about the events that led to the creation of the groundbreaking Eubie Blake-Noble Sissle musical Shuffle Along. Starring Audra McDonald as the 1920's star Lottie Gee, directed by George C. Wolfe -- with a book written by Wolfe -- and choreographed by Savion Glover, the musical marks the first time that the writer/director and choreographer will have worked together since their 1996 hit Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk. Previews will begin Monday, March 14, 2016. Opening night is Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

The new Broadway musical, An American In Paris begins previews tomorrow, Friday, March 13 and will open on Sunday, April 12 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street.)

On the heels of successful runs at the Royal George in Chicago, and at Laguna Playhouse and The Broad in Southern California, JACK LEMMON RETURNS makes its way to California's Central Coast for a limited engagement March 11 through March 29 at Ventura's Rubicon Theatre. This enchanting play-with-music is both a revealing portrait of legendary actor Jack Lemmon (Mister Roberts, Some Like it Hot, Days of Wine and Roses, The Odd Couple), and an in-depth, personal look at his relationship with his only son, actor and musician Chris Lemmon (Duets, That's Life, Lena's Holiday, etc.). The production is adapted and directed by impresario Hershey Felder, whose gifts for melding music and story have been celebrated through productions of George Gershwin Alone, Maestro Bernstein and The Pianist of Willesden Lane.

Hartford Stage presents The Pianist of Willesden Lane, starring piano virtuoso Mona Golabek, who performs some of the world's most beautiful music as she shares her own mother's riveting story of survival, from March 26 to April 26.

Tonight, March 11, the fourth anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated portions of Japan in 2011, the Young People's Chorus of New York City conducted by Elizabeth Nuñez will join with other choruses from New York City and Japan to commemorate the date in a free concert in Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. The 8 p.m. concert is presented by the Japan Artists Exchange Agency.

On Friday, March 6, noted arranger Fred Barton brought the music of Broadway and the American Songbook showmanship to the Schimmel Center at Pace University in American Showstoppers: An Evening of Irving Berlin. Hailed by George Gershwin as 'the greatest songwriter that has ever lived,' the legendary Irving Berlin composed some of the most influential and widely-known songs ever written, many of which have come to form the Great American Songbook. Fred Barton brought the power of Berlin's Broadway sound front and center, with a hot 14-piece orchestra and a cast of 17 Broadway singers and dancers, and direction and choreography by Jason Wise. “March is Cabaret Month” in New York gives us the opportunity to examine where we are, and, most importantly, where we have come from with this most magical of all art forms--Cabaret. So how very fortunate we are to see and hear veteran Broadway actress and cabaret performer, Karen Mason return to her roots to lovingly take us down memory lane with her new show Mason at Mama's In March at Don't Tell Mama (which opened on March 1st).

It is the intent of theater to educate and entertain, and, in the case of some special offerings, enrapture. Such a piece of theater is THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE, now on stage at Cleveland Play House.
