Each year since 1976, the New Jersey Jazz Society has presented Jazzfest, one of the best mainstream jazz festivals in the entire metropolitan New York City area. This year is no exception as this popular jazz picnic pays tribute to recent New Jersey Hall of Fame inductees Count Basie and Les Paul, plus Django Reinhart and Woody Herman. Jazzfest will take place on the campus of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey on Saturday, June 5th from Noon to 10:00 p.m. with a free concert on Friday evening, June 4th.

Marsha Heydt and the Project of Love Perform at The Garage (99 Seventh Ave. South) on Sunday, June 6th from 11:30 PM to 2:30 AM. There is no cover or minimum. While Marsha Heydt will play the saxophone and flute, the rest of the band consist of Norman Pors on keyboard, John DeCesare on electric and acoustic Bass, Rossen Nedelchev on drums, and Renato Thoms on percussio.

Beginning May 24, The George Gee 17-piece Big Band will begin a weekly Monday night engagement at Harlem's newest hotspot - Gospel Uptown/GU LIVE! (Located at 2110 Seventh Avenue @ 125th Street). Featuring jazz and blues vocalist John Dokes (in the style of Joe Williams and Billy Eckstine), George Gee and his big band orchestra pay tribute to the swingin' music of Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Chick Webb and many other Savoy Ballroom jazz icons. This marks the return of regular Big Band Jazz to Uptown NYC after a long hiatus.

Tickets are on sale now for Lincoln Center's 22nd season of Midsummer Night Swing which will take place every Tuesday through Saturday, June 29-July 17 (except July 13, which will be replaced with a night of dancing on Monday, July 12th). The program will take place in Swing's home, Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, on West 62nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.
