For its second production since the company's 2018 inauguration in Montreal, the Silk Road Institute (SRI), Canada's first professional Muslim theatre company, presents SPUN. London-based writer Rabiah Hussain's debut play about South Asian identity in Western society had its world premiere in the UK at London's Arcola Theatre in June of 2018. This production of SPUN, directed by multi-disciplinary artist, Mercedeh Baroque, makes its Canadian debut at the esteemed Centaur Theatre, from September 18 to 28, 2019.

Cahoots Theatre announces the appointment of Tanisha Taitt as Artistic Director of Cahoots Theatre. A notable theatre and anti-oppression educator with a deep and uncompromising commitment to racial justice and the empowerment of people of colour, Taitt is a natural choice as the artistic leader of the first professional company in Canada with a mandate to present culturally inclusive work.

Unchilding, the new performance piece conceived and directed by visual artist Joshua Kaufman and based on lost plays by John Walter Howley, will have its world premiere at the Benzaquen Hall at New York's DiMenna Center for Classical Music (450 West 37th Street). This one-night, two-performance only event will take place on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 8:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.

It was with great sadness that the Stratford Festival learned of the death of Ian Watson yesterday, of cancer. An expert in Shakespearean text, Mr. Watson was a key member of the Festival's coaching staff.

One of the most celebrated plays in Canadian history, MARY'S WEDDING by Stephen Massicotte, will have its first professional production in Toronto at Streetcar Crowsnest. A love story set against the backdrop of the Great War, this is an epic, unforgettable story of love, hope, and survival. MARY'S WEDDING stars Fraser Elsdon and Kate Ross, directed by Kent Staines, and is co-produced by Mary Young Leckie's Solo Productions and by Derrick Chua. Music industry finance firm Sound Royalties today is congratulating its valued friend, legendary songwriter and composer Steve Dorff, for his upcoming induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Dorff will be honored at the 49th Annual Induction and Awards ceremony, taking place this Thursday, June 14 in New York City.

For its 30th anniversary season, Repercussion Theatre presents Romeo & Juliet: Love is Love from July 5th to August 8th, 2018. The largest Shakespeare-in-the-Park (SITP) tour that Repercussion Theatre has had in a decade-with 30 shows to mark the anniversary-makes the usual rounds of local parks as well as visits to the West Island, the Eastern Townships, the Laurentians, Eastern Ontario and Quebec's Monteregie with two additional locations: the Olympic Park and Hawkesbury. The Montreal opening is July 6th at Mount Royal Cemetery; the West Island opening is July 5th at Baie d'Urfe's Fritz Farm, and the Ontario opening is in Cornwall on July 7th at the appropriately named Lamoureux Park.
