Canadian Theater Festivals Battle Tough Times

Canada's major theater festivals, The Stratford Festival and Shaw Festival, have reported decreased box office figures for the 2009 season, Variety reports. With tourism down in general due in large to confusion over new passport requirements for U.S. residents traveling to Canada, and the shaky economy, reports show that advance bookings for both Festivals were down 20% from previous years.

L.A. Theater Works Presents Moises Kauffman's GROSS INDECENCY, 11/18 - 11/22

L.A. Theater Works will present Moises Kauffman's Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wild, from November 18 through November 22. The production, directed by Brendan Fox, will play at the Skirball Center.

The Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at the University of the Arts presents George Bernard Shaw's 'Major Barbara' as the second show of its Main Stage series. McNall, Cuskern, Boyer & More Lead The Pearl Theatre's MISALLIANCE, Opens 12/4

The Pearl Theatre Company has announced the casting for their upcoming production of George Bernard Shaw's MISALLIANCE. The cast will include company members Steven Boyer (Bentley Summerhays), Robin Leslie Brown (Mrs. Tarleton), Michael Brusasco (Joey Percival), Bradford Cover (Johnny Tarleton), Dominic Cuskern (Lord Summerhays), Dan Daily (Mr. Tarleton), Sean McNall (Gunner), Erika Rolfsrud (Lina Szczepanowska), Lee Stark (Hypatia Tarleton). Performances for MISALLIANCE will begin December 4th with a scheduled opening of December 13th.
