42nd Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival Announces 2019 Lineup

The 2019 Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival features an extraordinary roster of twenty-two musical groups, highlighted by the festival debut of Grammy award winning artist Norah Jones, and the return of jazz legend George Benson and festival favorite Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Back by popular demand is also Los Van Van 50th Anniversary, Django Festival All-Stars with Edmar Castañeda and Grace Kelly, Joshua Redman Quartet, and James Carter Organ Trio. Fifteen emerging artists making their Saratoga debuts include Kandace Springs, Donna Grantis, Joey DeFrancesco Trio, Mercy Project which features Jon Cowherd, Brian Blade, John Patitucci, and Steve Cardenas, Antonio Sanchez & Migration, and Cha Wa. The festival will also feature a record number of groups led by women artists, highlighted by Allison Miller, Veronica Swift, Ruthie Foster and Youn Sun Nah.

Theater for the New City Presents BETTY & THE BELRAYS

'Bring it On' meets 'Dreamgirls' in the girl-group musical, 'Betty and the Belrays' by William Electric Black aka Ian Ellis James, which will be presented by Theater for the New City January 31 to February 17. The piece tells the story of three white female singers from Detroit who struggle to change a racially divided society by singing for a black record label. Book and lyrics are by William Electric Black. Music is by Black, Valerie Ghent (arranger/keyboards for Ashford & Simpson) and Gary Schreiner. Choreography is by Jeremy Lardieri. Director is Mr. Black.

Robert Bannon To Bring UNFINISHED BUSINESS: THE SEQUEL To NJ

Following his sold out show this summer at the Triad Theater in NYC, Robert Bannon brings his new one man concert event, 'Unfinished Business: The Sequel' to NJ this March. He will be accompanied by John Urban on piano. The event will take place over two days, March 2nd and 3rd, at Peak PAC in Ridgefield NJ.

Apollo Nights Summer Series 2019 Announces First Artists Burt Bacharach & Joss Stone, and More

The Apollo Nights Summer Series is a new concert experience for the capital. Over one week in July 2019 at London's Eventim Apollo, legendary artists will take to the stage, as the Apollo's newly restored Art Deco interior is celebrated as the stalls area is transformed into an intimate dining experience for a truly spectacular evening, marrying the delights of the best in music and food. The first artists announced are Burt Bacharach and Joss Stone together in concert on 16th and 17th July, George Benson on 18th and 19th July and Marc Almond on 20th July.

'Carpenters With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra' Set for World Release This December

The Carpenters are getting the royal treatment. Carpenters With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is set for release worldwide 7 December by UMC. Featuring timeless hits and favourites, the album pairs Carpenters' original vocal and instrumental tracks with new orchestral arrangements from Richard Carpenter, conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) at Abbey Road Studios. It is available now for preorder in digital, CD and 180-gram 2LP vinyl LP formats. The vinyl set will be released 8 February.

The Music Of Henry Mancini Comes to The Soraya This Month

An American icon comes home.  During the early years of his career, American composer, conductor and arranger Henry Mancini and his family lived not far from where California State University, Northridge campus now stands.  On Saturday, October 13 at 8pm, Mancini's music comes home to Northridge as The Soraya presents Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini.  Starring Monica Mancini with special guest three-time Tony nominated Joshua Henry, Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini features Gregg Field as Music Director and Chris Walden conducting the New West Symphony.

Capturing the intoxicating love and joy he experienced after getting engaged, dee Brown exuberantly picks and scats the next chapter in his intimate musical scrapbook assembled for his late fiancée. Going for radio adds next Monday (October 1), Brown and keyboardist Valdez Brantley wrote and produced “I Want You Too,” the third single from the urban-jazz guitarist's “Remembering You” album.
