Since 2002 fortyfivedownstairs, a not-for-profit organisation, has offered an evocative urban space and a personalised service to an eclectic mix of artists for theatre, visual arts, forum, music and dance.

NHTP offers three week workshops for all ages. Strategic Storytelling (ages 18 & up), Shakespeare for Teens (Ages 13-17), Story Theatre Workshop (Ages 8-12), and Creative Drama Workshop (Ages 5-7).

This month, TheTimesCenter presents 'Summer Nights on Broadway,' a series of two Monday evening events featuring some of Broadway's most celebrated and award-winning talent who will offer insights on the process of bringing their respective Broadway musicals to life.

August 22 will be the final performance of 'The Bukowski Project' at Joe's Pub, featuring Broadway and West End star Ute Lemper (CHICAGO), who is also credited with the artistic idea, conception, and music. Additional composition and arrangements are by Todd Turkisher and Vana Gierig.

TVGuide reports that Lainie Kazan will guest star in a multi-episode arc on ABC's primetime soap opera 'Desperate Housewives'. Kazan will be Teri Hatcher's character Susan's new entrepreneur neighbor. The seventh season of 'Desperate Housewives' also added Brian Austin Green and Vanessa Williams.

Last night, August 16, The Broadway Boys took the stage at Birdland. Featuring regulars Jesse Nager (Mary Poppins), Michael James Scott (Jersey Boys), Mykal Kilgore (Hair), Danny Calvert (Altar Boyz), Gabe Violett (Spring Awakening), and Zak Resnick (Dogfight), the concert also showcased special guest Natalie Weiss from Wicked.

It may not quite feel like Christmas yet, but legendary American Icons, the Radio City Rockettes ‘kick'-started the 2010 Radio City Christmas Spectacular season with a coast-to-coast kick-off on August 12th with a live performance in front of Radio City Music Hall, joined by special guests Santa Claus and Race Taylor of WPLJ, followed by inviting patrons to join in their legendary kick-line. The cast includes Aaron Watson (12 years old from Kings Lynn, Norfolk), Dean-Charles Chapman (12 years old from Essex), Oliver Gardner (13 years old from Bath), Rhys Yeomans (12 years old from Oldham, Lancashire), who alternate the title role of Billy alongside principal cast members, Joe Caffrey (Dad), Craig Gallivan (Tony), Ann Emery (Grandma), David Nellist (George), Sean Kingsley (Mr Braithwaite), Genevieve Lemon (Mrs Wilkinson) Samantha Seager (Dead Mum) and Barnaby Meredith (Older Billy).

Kelli O'Hara, who won critical acclaim for her performance as Nellie Forbush in Lincoln Center Theater's production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC will return to the production on Tuesday, August 10 and perform the role through Sunday, August 22 when the musical plays the final performance of its record-breaking run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. On Wednesday, August 18, the Tony Award winning production, directed by Bartlett Sher, will be broadcast nationally at 8pm on PBS' 'Live From Lincoln Center.'

Richard Pryor Jr. (1st-born son of the late great) stars in INTERNATIONAL CRINGEFEST '10, the seriously irreverent annual festival presented by NY Artists Unlimited at the Producers' Club, July 19-August 8. Richard appears in multiple roles in the theme evening SEX ENCOUNTERS OF A DISTURBED MIND, directed by Robert Bartley.

Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D is thrilled to welcome Halle Morse and Rick Crom Tuesday, August 3rd. Halle Morse currently stars as Lisa in the Mamma Mia at The Winter Garden Theater. Rick Crom has appeared on Broadway in Urinetown, Footloose and more.

Last night, August 2, audiences at Joe's Pub took a musical road trip across the country in Free to Dream, an evening devoted to the songs of Katsaros and Schermerhorn. Featuring an all-star Broadway cast including Rent star Anthony Rapp and Avenue Q's John Tartaglia and Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Free to Dream showcased the people and places that make up the fabric of America; from country, rock and pop, to swing and the blues. Proceeds from Free to Dream benefit The New York Pops' education programs, which bring music to thousands of public schoolchildren across the five boroughs of New York City. The evening was hosted by The New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke, and featured the Camp Broadway Kids, as well as the voice of Willard Scott as ‘DJ Sam.'
