Pittsburgh CLO and the University of Pittsburgh present the 25th Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater. The awards show will take place tonight, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh and will include a celebration of 25 years of this extraordinary program, which began in 1991 and has inspired over 30 programs of its kind across the country.

What has 21 hit songs, 47 set pieces, 55 sound cues, 119 light cues,  and 311 breathtaking costume pieces worn by a cast of 24 incredibly talented actors, singers, and dancers, who have cumulatively performed for 657 years in 599 productions over 15 states, Puerto Rico, and France? On April 27th, Words On Dance and Symphony Space presented Ballet to Broadway: Christopher Wheeldon with Rita Moreno, at the Peter J. Sharp Theater, just two weeks after the opening of Wheeldon's An American in Paris, on Broadway. The evening consisted of film clips interspersed with conversation. Oddly, it was the films we saw 1st, followed by words. It was Moreno who was to interview Wheeldon, although he occasionally turned the tables and asked questions of Moreno.

The splash-hit West End stage production SINGIN' IN THE RAIN will open at Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre in May 2016 starring an all Australian cast including star of stage and screen Adam Garcia. Tickets will go on sale this coming Friday 8 May.

Happy Birthday Barbra Streisand! Streisand has appeared on Broadway in I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE and FUNNY GIRL, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Streisand won the 1968 Academy Award for Best Actress for the role in the film version of the musical. Her next two movies were also based on musicals, Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly!, directed by Gene Kelly (1969), and Alan Jay Lerner's and Burton Lane's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, directed by Vincente Minnelli (1970). Additionally, she has won two Academy Awards, eight Grammy Awards, one special Tony Award, five Emmy Awards including one Daytime Emmy, an American Film Institute award, a Peabody Award, and is one of the few entertainers who have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award.

Seacoast Repertory Theatre and Let's “B” Reel have announced that their award winning Red Light series will be presenting the cult musical classic, XANADU tonight, April 22nd, 2015. In addition to the screening, Seacoast Roller Derby and Lady Luck Burlesque will be on hand for an extra special pre-show performance, as well as original animation cells from the film will be on display in the Rep's Lobby.

The 2015 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, recently announced 'Sinatra at 100: Film & Music in collaboration with The Lincoln Motor Company,' a centennial celebration to honor Frank Sinatra's legendary film career at the Festival's 14th edition.
