Dave Malloy, creator of the "intoxicatingly good, rapturous" (Isherwood, NY Times) new musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, will make his Broadway performing debut in the show this spring, stepping into the role of 'Pierre' for 10 performances across May and June 2017.

In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld will be shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with Bradley King and Paloma Young, who acted as lighting and costume designers for Broadway's most immersive new show, NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812.

The new musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 just had a starry Broadway opening Monday night, at the Imperial Theatre. Featuring the Broadway debuts of 24 cast and creative team members, including Josh Groban as 'Pierre' and Denee Benton as 'Natasha,' the new musical is created by Dave Malloy (Ghost Quartet, Preludes) and directed by Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown, Artistic Director of The TEAM), also making their Broadway debuts. The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that continued this week, July 28 on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 16th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 11.

The Bushwick Starr presents the very first performance of The Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment's Off Broadway in the Boros inaugural series. For one night only, tonight, July 29th, 2016, Dave Malloy, composer/playwright of the Broadway-bound Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, brings his award-winning chamber musical GHOST QUARTET, a haunted song cycle about love, death, and whisky, to Bushwick's Maria Hernandez Park for a very special outdoor performance at sunset.

This summer, JACK presents the premiere of Toshiki Okada's Quiet, Comfort, commissioned by Hoi Polloi and directed by Alec Duffy, a duo of singer/performer Helga Davis and choreographer/dancer Ji?i Bartovanec (of the Sasha Waltz Dance Company), the premiere of the play The Animals, by Amina Henry, a new piece by choreographer Biba Bell, the second annual Brooklyn Experimental Song Carnival, curated by Valerie Kuehne, plus several concerts throughout the season.

Building on the pioneering work of composer Robert Ashley, who believed that the America of his time was a culture of TV, the fun and fearless composer collective Experiments in Opera presents VIDEO OPERAS, a collection of five premieres created specifically for the video screen (no live performers or musicians).
