Written by Hamilton creator and pop culture icon Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony Award and Grammy Award-winning In the Heights, playing now through August 28, opens Aurora Theatre's 2016-17 Peach State Federal Credit Union Signature Series before heading to Theatrical Outfit September 8-18. This universal tale, a co-production with Theatrical Outfit, delivers a poignant message on the power of family and the strength of community in the face of adversity. The show, which shines a red-hot spotlight on a little-known piece of Black history, is presented by the City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and Byron and Sylvia Lewis. How does one find "the real"? That is the question that "Youth" the protagonist in PASSING STRANGE asks himself as he takes the audience along on his long journey of self-discovery. In this the second production of their seventh season, Playhouse on Park in West Hartford has taken a chance on a lesser known piece - one that, while it did receive critical acclaim in its original New York production, is not necessarily a household name, even among theater aficionados. But sometimes, a lack of previous knowledge or a following can be just the key to creating a new and fresh experience as an audience. And this reviewer certainly experienced something unique and brilliant, and dare I say "real" on the Playhouse stage.

Musical Theatre Factory in association with The Chelsea Symphony presented a gala concert event 'Get Yourself Some New Orchestrations,' the launch of an exciting new series which pairs emergent musical theatre writers with Broadway orchestrators to commission stunning new orchestrations of their shows. 'New Orchestrations,' took place at Merkin Concert Hall (129 W 67th St) on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 8PM. BroadwayWorld has photos from the red carpet below!

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Grep Cooper Productions, LLC LLC have announced that Virginia Woodruff (Violet, Leap of Faith, The Color Purple, All Shook Up, Smokey Joe's Cafe), Cheryl A. Freeman (The Who's Tommy , Disney's Hercules), Tyler Hardwick , Anthony Chatmon II , Miche Braden and Darilyn Castillo have joined the cast of ACAPPELLA. Rounding out the company are Katrina R. Dideriksen, Gavyn Pickens, Emily Goglia, Rachel Gavaletz, Janelle McDermoth, Darryl Williams, Alex Koceja and Garrett Turner.
