For the past 11 years, DanceFest has brightened Stamford's Palace Theatre for 2 weekends every January, giving young area dancers the opportunity to take Master Classes with some of the best dancers in the world and perform on a professional stage during a festival performance on the final Sunday. This year, the 12th Annual DanceFest 2014 begins on January 18th, culminating with the Student Festival Performance of original choreography performed on the HARMAN Stage at the Palace Theatre on Sunday, January 26th at 6 p.m. (a detailed schedule of the festival is included below).

The Friars Club today announced that Peabody Award-winning radio, television and internet show host Larry King has been appointed as the new Dean of the Friars Club, taking over for Freddie Roman. As Dean, which is also known as the President of the club, King will work closely with the Friars Club's Abbot Jerry Lewis, overseeing the Board of Governors on all matters surrounding the “Monastery,” including participating in the famous Roasts and dinners, as well as other events happening in and around the Club, for the next two years. The appointment will be made official at a special ceremony at the Friars Club.

The Junior Theater Festival is being held January 17, 18 and 19 at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta.

The notoriously harsh London critics predicted a very short lifespan for WE WILL ROCK YOU, a musical centered on the rock band Queen's hits, when it opened May 14, 2002 at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End. The Guardian felt the production came across as 'ruthlessly packaged and manufactured,' with its plot finding 'more unlikely ways to wring out another Queen song' into the two and a half hour performance.
