Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces a one-week extension to the critically-acclaimed production of East Texas Hot Links, written by Eugene Lee and directed by Ron OJ Parson. The show, which started performances on October 19, 2016 now runs through January 29, 2017 in The Gillian Theatre: 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe. The School of Visual Arts presents 'SVA x Skowhegan,' an interdisciplinary exhibition that explores the effects an increasingly global society has on contemporary artistic practice.

Galerie Lelong is pleased to present Burning all illusion, Samuel Levi Jones's first solo exhibition with the gallery. Known for deconstructing institutional and academic books as a gesture of challenging historical and contemporary power structures, Jones unveils new paintings that incorporate found texts on black history, law and higher education.

Galerie Lelong is proud to announce the representation of Chicago-based artist Samuel Levi Jones. Inspired by questions of authority, representation and recorded history, Jones has built a personal and poetic body of work centered around the deconstruction of institutional texts. Galerie Lelong will open its first solo exhibition with the artist on December 8, 2016.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be transformed into a dynamic cultural open house for teens tonight, October 16, 5:00-8:00 p.m., during Teens Take the Met!—an innovative Museum-wide event  developed in partnership with more than 55 cultural and youth organizations from New York's five boroughs. The program encourages teens to sample diverse activities that are available to them across the City at cultural institutions large and small.  The evening is free for all teens (age 13 or older) with a middle- or high-school ID, and features art making, music, performance, gallery activities, films, a dance party, and more.

Venice, Italy, May 7, 2015 – Joan Jonas's They Come to Us without a Word is presented by the MIT List Visual Arts Center in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State at the 56th International Art Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia. Jonas, a pioneering figure in video and performance art, is occupying the entirety of the Pavilion's five galleries with a new video installation involving drawings and sculptural elements. A new performance by the artist will take place in July at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale in Venice, with new music by Jonas's long-time sound collaborator, American jazz pianist and composer Jason Moran. 

The MIT List Visual Arts Center, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, will present Joan Jonas as the representative for the United States at La Biennale di Venezia 56th International Art Exhibition, on view May 9 - November 22, 2015. Jonas, a pioneering figure in performance art and video, will create a new multimedia installation that will transform the entirety of the Pavilion's five galleries into a dynamically immersive environment.

A Tony Award and Grammy-winning singer and actress, a renowned classical dancer and educator, a ground-breaking conceptual artist, and an influential patron of the arts have been selected to receive the 2015 Nelson A. Rockefeller Awards for Creativity. Presented by Purchase College, State University of New York, the awards recognize lifetime achievements and longstanding commitments to the cultivation of arts awareness and education - values that are closely aligned to the Purchase College mission.
