The acclaimed Moscow String Quartet will perform a program of Russian music on Sunday, March 22 at 3 p.m. in Tiedtke Concert Hall on the Rollins College campus. The Denver Post says of this quartet, 'They are players of the highest caliber, intonation, strength, ensemble, dynamics, tonal sheen-the ladies from Moscow possess all the things a world-class string quartet should have.' Their program will consist of Borodin's String Quartet No. 2, Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 7, and Tchaikovsky's String Quartet No. 3. On Saturday morning, March 21 at 11 a.m. the Quartet will perform a family program for audiences of all ages, consisting of excerpts from Borodin's String Quartet and Tchaikovsky's 'Album pour les enfants,' a string-quartet arrangement originally written for piano with 44 little pieces about animals, witches, and other whimsical topics, making use of folk melodies from different countries.
