The Fred Rogers Company has announced production of a second season of PEG + CAT for PBS KIDS. The new season of the multiple Emmy Award-winning animated series for preschoolers is slated to launch on PBS KIDS in spring 2016.
The Children's Theater Foundation of America (CTFA) has announced that Barry Kornhauser of Millersville University, a nationally recognized playwright, director and educator has been named the recipient of its 2014 Medallion Award. The Award is regarded as the highest honor in the field of Theater for Young Audiences. This year's ceremony - where the award will be officially announced and presented -- will take place in the Imperial Ballroom of the Denver Hyatt at the annual American Alliance for Theatre and Education national conference in Denver, Colorado on Friday, August 1. Kornhauser will be attending to accept his award.

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park announces that the Fred Rogers Family Series will not be scheduled on its 2010-2011 Season. For the 2010-2011 Season, the Society has developed a partnership with the quartet Brooklyn Rider, A Gift for Music, and Orange County Public Schools to create a unique music residency, bringing high-quality classical music to nearly 700 young music students this year. Brooklyn Rider is well known for its collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma on his Silk Road Project.

The acclaimed Moscow String Quartet will perform a program of Russian music on Sunday, March 22 at 3 p.m. in Tiedtke Concert Hall on the Rollins College campus. The Denver Post says of this quartet, 'They are players of the highest caliber, intonation, strength, ensemble, dynamics, tonal sheen-the ladies from Moscow possess all the things a world-class string quartet should have.' Their program will consist of Borodin's String Quartet No. 2, Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 7, and Tchaikovsky's String Quartet No. 3. On Saturday morning, March 21 at 11 a.m. the Quartet will perform a family program for audiences of all ages, consisting of excerpts from Borodin's String Quartet and Tchaikovsky's 'Album pour les enfants,' a string-quartet arrangement originally written for piano with 44 little pieces about animals, witches, and other whimsical topics, making use of folk melodies from different countries.
