Special Guest Cynthia Nixon will join Music Director George Rothman and Riverside Symphony in the orchestra's season finale on Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. The Metropolitan Museum of Art today unveiled the 2012-13 season of Met Museum Presents, its newly-renamed series of performances and talks. This is the first full season to be programmed by Concerts & Lectures General Manager Limor Tomer, who assumed her post at the Met in July 2011. The evening features works by MCCE's 2011-12 composer-in-residence Andrew Rosciszewski, MCCE's Composer Search Finalist 2012 Elizabeth Nonemaker, Claude Debussy, Manuel De Falla, Alan Hovhaness, Henryk Gorecki and Francis Poulenc performed in a cabaret-style setting by MCCE members Tamara Keshecki (flute), Amanda Romano (harp), Elizabeth McCullough (soprano) and Wen-Yi Lo (piano). On March 11 and March 17, 2012, Long Beach Opera (LBO) will perform two comic examples of opera at its most absurd, Francis Poulenc's The Breasts of Tiresias and Bohuslav Martinu's Tears of a Knife. Sung in English with English supertitles and staged at the intimate Center Theater in Long Beach, the operas are sure to confound, enchant, and amuse. Ken Roht (The Good Soldier Schweik) returns to LBO to direct these surreal works along with Ani Maldjian, Robin Buck and Suzan Hanson in starring roles. A highlight of the production will be sculptures and masks designed by artist Wen Wen Hsu.
