Superstar violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins returns to PREFORMANCES with Allison Charney to play Florence Price's masterful Violin Concerto, no. 2 this Thursday, October 24th at 7pm at Merkin Hall. Ms. Hall-Tompkins makes this appearance in the midst of her 'The Fiddler Expanding Tradition' tour and her work on the composite song cycle, 'Forgotten Voices', an original commission from Music Kitchen: Food for the Soul, which premieres at Carnegie Hall in the spring.

Nexus Chamber Music Chicago To Perform Chamber Concerts At New State-Of-The-Art Loop Venue, Guarneri Hall

Guarneri Hall, a recently established, state-of-the-art, intimate music venue located in the loop, is pleased to announce the second annual NEXUS Chamber Music Chicago Festival, three concerts at the hall on Aug. 28, Aug. 30, and Sept. 4, and one in the Chicago College of the Performing Arts' Ganz Hall on Sept. 8. NEXUS is a collective of highly acclaimed young musicians committed to stimulating interest in chamber music in new audiences through immersive performances, utilizing social media to promote music, and showcasing emerging talent. In a combined effort to increase access to classical music, concerts at Guarneri Hall will be live-streamed on the Guarneri Hall website, https://guarnerihall.org, at no charge. New York Youth Symphony Announces Its 57th Season Of Concerts And Venues

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of educating and inspiring young musicians through its Orchestra, Jazz, Chamber Music, Composition, Musical Theater Composition, Apprenticeship Conducting, and First Music commissioning programs. This season includes seven world premieres of new works commissioned through the First Music program, composed for the Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber Music ensembles. The season also features renowned and up-and-coming soloists including prodigy pianist Harmony Zhu, 2019 Sphinx Competition winner cellist Sterling Elliott, and leading young pianist Michelle Cann in the Carnegie Hall premiere of Florence Price's recently re-discovered Piano Concerto in One Movement with NYYS Orchestra, as well as in-demand drummer Matt Wilson, celebrated saxophonist Steve Wilson, and trombone virtuoso Wycliffe Gordon with NYYS Jazz. The first time I heard bass-baritone Davone Tinesa--he off the sensual, resonant voice and startlingly vivid stage presence--it was in Handel's ACI, GALATEA E POLIFEMO (described as a spectacular, streamlined, Cliff-Notes version of a Handel opera), at Brooklyn's National Sawdust. Tines wowed me and I thought that I wanted to hear more of him. He opens July 24, 2019 at Mostly Mozart in THE BLACK CLOWN at the Gerald Lynch Theatre of John Jay College, near Lincoln Center.

Free NJSO Concert Moved To Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School

The free New Jersey Symphony Orchestra concert on June 21 at 7:30 pm will be held in the auditorium of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in Scotch Plains. The concert was originally scheduled to be held at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside, but the park grounds are too saturated from recent heavy rains to hold an outdoor event.

The episode, which features America's best young classical musicians, was taped before a live audience at Interlochen Center for the Arts in March 2019. On the broadcast, Mr. Gupton interviews the young musicians, all students at the Interlochen Arts Academy, and conducts a performance by the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra.
