The Board of Directors of The New Colony is pleased to announce the appointment of Fin Coe and Stephanie Shum as the company's new Co-Artistic Directors. Coe and Shum succeed Founding Members and Co-Artistic Directors Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder, who will step down in January 2018 at the conclusion of the company's ninth season.

A Chicago Theatre Marathon Comes to Strawdog

The Chicago Theatre Marathon is a weekend-long, new work marathon event celebrating the diversity of Chicagoland theatre artists. The Marathon, subtitled "I Am Indomitable," will acknowledge the variety of identity characteristics and categories that make individuals unique, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or gender expression, socio-economic status, age, physical, mental and learning abilities, religious beliefs and political views.

Curated by company member kClare Kemock*, the six plays will be performed April 2 - 11, 2015 at the museum itself, allowing the audience members to view the works of art firsthand. Guests will also have an opportunity to vote for 'Audience Favorite' and 'Best Translation.' The press opening is Today, April 2 at 7:30 pm. In 1994 Sarajevo, in a bedroom brimming with bullet holes, Dahlia and Peter have a whirlwind romance. A famous writer reporting on the Bosnian War, he leaves her to return to his wife. In 2001 Kabul, in a bedroom with blacked out windows, an Afghan prostitute is having affair with a member of the Taliban religious police. Dahlia's book about Leila, Ash and the aftermath of their affair in Kabul makes her a famous writer in her own right. On her book tour, struggling with how we all profit from telling stories of war from a safe distance, Dahlia and Peter meet again.

Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival Set for 3/19-22; Full Line-up Announced

Stage 773 has announced the line-up for their second annual Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival, running from March 19 through March 22. Nerd Fest stems from the popularity of HEY, I'M A BIG FAN, a series of fun, free monthly fan fiction events produced by Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont. The Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival celebrates all that is the Chicago nerd comedy scene; from Stand Up to Improv to one-woman puppet shows, nerds will unite for one glorious weekend in Chicago to laugh, pay homage, and perhaps worship their favorite genres of nerd-ness.
