This year ATMTC brings to life 5 main stage productions featuring 1 world premiere. The 62nd Season represents an exciting line-up of familiar stories and faces on the ATMTC Professional Stage.
The all-star Summer Hummer burlesque returns for a second triumphant year, with direction by Eric Schaeffer and performances by the best - and bawdiest - talent that Washington stages have to offer. Last year the event raised more than $16,000 for the Taking Care of Our Ownemergency fund, which provides short-term assistance to Washington-area theatre artists in unexpected need. Building on that success, this year's production features an added performance and an astounding line-up of top performers from Washington and Broadway.
Escape the New York summer heat with 'Christmas in July' at Joe's Pub at The Public where Chicago's About Face Theatre in association with John Sanders presents a concert version of WE THREE LIZAS, the new hit holiday musical that wowed Chicago audiences this past winter. WE THREE LIZAS plays Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St., New York) one night only on Monday, July 15 at 7 pm.

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 20th anniversary season with 'Home,' Samm-Art Williams' brilliantly inventive, lyrically expressive play that tells the coming-of-age story of a young black man, Cephus Miles, from rural North Carolina. From beginning to end - and through tragedy and triumph - Cephus never loses his joyful goodwill, his indomitable spirit, and the conviction that one day his quest for fulfillment with be rewarded. 'Home' stars returning Rep Stage actors Felicia Curry and Fatima Quander, as well as Rep newcomer Robert Lee Hardy in the role of Cephus Miles.

theatreWashington has announced the debut of two new holiday albums - Holiday: The Divas of DC and Sandy Bainum's This Christmas - to raise funds for Taking Care Of Our Own, a program to assist theatre professionals and artists with personal emergency needs.

Acting under what he declared were the choices and movements of the people, he initiated ethnic cleansing in the United States through the forced relocation of Native American tribes from the Southeast to the west of the Mississippi River. He became Father of the Democratic Party and defeated the British at the notorious Battle of New Orleans.
It was a starry Monday night at DC's Warner Theatre. Members of the local theater community came out from DC, Maryland and Virginia to celebrate the best and the brightest from last season. The evening was sprinkled with area favorites, a politician or two and even a respected film star.

Imagination Stage is extending its popular production of Rapunzel by a week. Rapunzel now runs in Imagination Stage's Annette M. and Theodore N. Lerner Family Theatre through May 26.
Olney Theatre Center today announced two special cabaret performances by DC- Area favorites Felicia Curry, George Dvorsky, JJ Kaczynski, Tracy Lynn Olivera and Chris Youstra called Ebony, Ivory and Ink. The cabaret will feature some of the most beloved musical classics and is scheduled to take to Olney Theatre Center's Mainstage on Friday, May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2012.

The new DC area theatre season begins in September. Over 50 shows are opening in our professional and community theatres. But before we move on to the new season and what's opening in September, let's look back at my personal favorite musicals, plays, and performances in both musicals and plays in the DC area - from August 2010 to August 2011.
