Karl Scully has graced the international opera stages in Italy in Orvietto at the Teatro Mancinelli and as resident tenor at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Italy . He has performed most recently at the Barga Opera Festival in 2010. Not to be confined to one avenue to showcase his musical talent, Karl Scully appeared with Ewan McGregor in the film 'Nora' as he portrayed the legendary tenor Count John McCormack. In 2006, Mr. Scully joined the sensational international group 'The Irish Tenors', and starred in their television show 'The Irish Tenors and Friends.'

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City continues its 53rd season after a record-breaking run of Carmen with the Company debut of Norma. Norma is the quintessential bel canto opera showcasing brilliant vocal singing and is the first Bellini opera ever produced by the Company. The production features a renowned cast of singers and The Kansas City Symphony conducted by Lyric Opera Artistic Director Ward Holmquist. Norma opens on Novembers 6, 2010 in celebration of National Opera Week October 29 - November 7, 2010. This will be the Company's final season in the Lyric Theatre. Beginning in the fall of 2011, the Lyric Opera will perform at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Barrett Foa has starred in two of the decade's most popular Broadway shows, Avenue Q and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and was in the original Broadway cast of Mamma Mia!. Spanish conductor Juanjo Mena will become chief conductor for the BBC Philharmonic during the 2011-2012 season, the New York Times reports. Mena will also, along with Christoph von Dohnanyi, Hans Graf and Michael Tilson Thomas, take the place of James Levine at the Tanglewood Music Festival while Levine recuperates from back surgery.
