Astoria, New York, October 22, 2015-Museum of the Moving Image is pleased to announce 'The Hollywood Classics behindWalkers,' a screening series presented in conjunction with the exhibition Walkers: Hollywood Afterlives in Art and Artifact, the Museum's first major contemporary art survey. Through the work of 45 artists in painting, photography, sculpture, print, and video,Walkers examines the lasting impact of 20th-century film on culture, and the ability of its imagery to be recycled and reinvented by artists. Exhibition curator Robert M. Rubin has paired these artworks with a selection of rare movie ephemera including scripts, set photos, and costume design sketches, that when viewed through a 21st-century lens, serve as works of art in their own right.

The Aviva Players, now in its 40th season, invites opera goers to travel into the past and future with its 'Double Feature of Chamber Opera Films' to be presented at Opera America, 330 Seventh Ave., Manhattan, on November 4. The films are 'Villa Diodati' a screen version of Mira J. Spektor's opera about Mary Shelley and the origins of her Frankenstein story, and 'Libertaria: the Virtual Opera' by Sabrina Pena Young, a futuristic animated tale that may be the world's first original machinima opera and is certainly one of the few animated comic book operas.

With a mind-boggling array of wigs and on-stage costume changes, Bishop effervescently evokes Joan Rivers, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Cher and many, many more. The versatile and outrageously talented 2015 MAC Award Nominee is a graduate of the Yale University School of Music, launched a career as a lyric soprano singing diva roles from Lucia di Lammermoor to Madame Butterfly in New York, was a guest soloist with New York Pops at Carnegie Hall and toured with Faye Dunaway in the first national Broadway tour of Master Class.

Margot Harley, Co-Founder of The Acting Company, to Retire

Margot Harley, who co-founded The Acting Company with John Houseman in 1972, will step down as its Producer effective the end of this year. The Acting Company began with the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, which included Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers. "They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years," stated Ms. Harley.
