Children's Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to present Seedfolks, a world premiere developed by CTC through the new play development lab. Based on the Newbery Medal-winning book by Paul Fleischman, Seedfolks is about an immigrant neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio that is transformed by a community garden. Actor Sonja Parks embodies the eleven distinct voices of Gibb Street in this enthralling, one-woman production, directed by Peter C. Brosius. Seedfolks runs September 30 - November 16, 2014 on the Cargill Stage.

BIG BLOCK ENTERTAINMENT (Heathers: The Musical), a television, film, live entertainment and design production company led by Scott Benson, Tony Award-winning producer Jamie Bendell (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder) and Tony Award-nominated producer Scott Prisand (Rock of Ages), announced today they have optioned the play A FAMILY THING, written by Peabody Award nominee and Emmy Award nominee Gary Lennon ("Orange Is The New Black"), for a Broadway run in 2015. Short North Stage will present its 2014-15 season starting on October 2 with Sunset Boulevard, the musical version of Billy Wilder's Academy Award-winning 1950 movie of the same name. The score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is considered by many to be one of his finest. The book and lyrics are by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. Sunset Boulevard is a Hollywood legend about a faded 1920s silent-screen star, Norma Desmond, who lives in a decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street. A chance meeting with a down-and-out screenwriter, Joe Gillis, feeds into her dream of writing a film that will be her comeback to the silver screen. Winning Tony Awards on Broadway for Best Musical, Best Book and Score and Best Actress in 1995, Sunset Boulevard opened originally in London starring Patti LuPone and later productions featured such stars as Betty Buckley, Glenn Close, Diahann Caroll and Petula Clark. Actor Hugh Jackman made his first stage splash as Joe Gillis in the Australian production. Performances run from Oct 2-19 on the Garden Theater Main Stage.

An animal rights activist in Brooklyn searches for love in the dating jungle of New York City. Wilson Milam (The Lieutenant of Inishmore on Broadway, for the RSC and at the Taper) will direct the West Coast premiere of Dates and Nuts, a romantic comedy by Gary Lennon (Orange is the New Black for Netflix, Echo Theater Company's A Family Thing). Opening night is set for May 31 at the Bootleg Theater.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for the world-premiere historical drama Camp David, penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lawrence Wright and directed by Artistic Director Molly Smith. Based on true events surrounding the 1978 Camp David Accords, the play follows the 13-day meeting between President Jimmy Carter, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat as they attempted to create the impossible: peace in the Middle East. The production features Tony Award nominee Hallie Foote (Broadway's Dividing the Estate) as Rosalynn Carter, Egyptian actor and activist Khaled Nabawy (Kingdom of Heaven, Fair Game) as Anwar Sadat, Tony Award winner Ron Rifkin (Alias, Broadway's Cabaret) as Menachem Begin and Emmy Award winner Richard Thomas (The Waltons) as President Jimmy Carter. Camp David runs March 21-May 4, 2014 in the Kreeger Theater.

This week's guest on THEATER TALK is journalist Jeremy Gerard, author of the new book, Wynn Place Show, subtitled A Biased History of the Rollicking Life & Extreme Times of Wynn Handman and the American Place Theatre (Smith and Kraus Publishers). Gerard tells co-hosts Michael Riedel of the New York Post and Susan Haskins about the remarkable place in theater history occupied by Handman, Artistic Director and Co-Founder of The American Place Theatre and, at age 91, still one of New York's most sought-after acting teachers.

The New York Times reports that Honey Waldman, who along with her husband refurbished a movie house in Nyack and a bank in the East Village into two theaters, passed away on December 8, 2013, due to heart failure. She was 87.

Super agent Mengers came to Los Angeles from New York with a German background and from a poor family and worked her way to the top as one of the strongest, gutsiest, hard-working and caring agents Hollywood has ever seen. So, the two ladies have a lot in common; Midler certainly fits the bill to play Sue Mengers in John Logan's one-person play I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers, now at the Geffen through December 22 only.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with playwright, screenwriter, and film director Stephen Belber and others from the Huntington's production of The Power of Duff.
