Milford Arts Council & Pantochino Launches NITE SPOT NIGHTS Series Tonight

By:
Milford Arts Council, in association with Pantochino Productions Inc. has announced a new entertainment series, Nite Spot Nights, debuting this Fall at the Center for the Arts on Railroad Avenue in Downtown Milford.

Nite Spot Nights offers six 'night club' style evenings of entertainment. Evoking the feeling of New York City cabaret rooms, the series is a varied collection of musical performances by some of the city's hottest acts. To enhance the experience, the Center for the Arts will be set with tables and chairs inviting patrons to bring along the food and drink of their choice.

"We are very excited to be working with Pantochino in welcoming such amazing talent to Milford. You no longer have to head to the city, we are bringing the city to you!", said executive director Paige Miglio. "This is the perfect program to expand what we offer," said Bert Bernardi of Pantochino. "We love bringing something unique and different to our audiences -- it's what we do," he added.

Kicking off the series tonight, September 12th is "The Dozen Divas" starring Dorothy Bishop. With a mind-boggling array of wigs and on-stage costume changes, Bishop effervescently evokes Joan Rivers, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Cher and many, many more. The versatile and outrageously talented 2015 MAC Award Nominee is a graduate of the Yale University School of Music, launched a career as a lyric soprano singing diva roles from Lucia di Lammermoor to Madame Butterfly in New York, was a guest soloist with New York Pops at Carnegie Hall and toured with Faye Dunaway in the first national Broadway tour of Master Class.

In November, Fairfield's own Julie Benko (currently on Broadway in the revival of Les Miserables) returns to Connecticut with jazz pianist Jason Yeager in an evening of song and story, "Blame It On Our Youth." The nostalgic, sometimes silly and often profound collaboration is an evening featuring new interpretations of great American songbook classics from Cole Porter to Brittany Spears. The pair has performed the show throughout New York City and New England. They will appear on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

Nite Spot Nights takes a special holiday twist in December with Christmas Cocktails. Featuring members of Pantochino's core company, this festive and fun-filled evening offers holiday songs, sketches and will include some very special surprise guests. A perfect event for holiday parties, Christmas Cocktails happens on Saturday, December 5, 2015.

The exciting and fresh New York vocalist/ songwriter Marcus Goldhaber brings the sounds of Sinatra to the Center for the Arts on March 5th. According to JazzTimes, he "rivals the jazz instincts of Chet Baker and John Pizzarelli" with his "wildly imaginative" interpretations of jazz standards. His act has been seen at Manhattan's top jazz clubs and his solo albums have established him firmly in the jazz/cabaret scene.

The series concludes with Hedda Lettuce, New York's drag debutant and six-time Drag Queen of the Year Award winner (HX Magazine) in her new show "Big Queen, Small Throne" on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She's been seen on Comedy Central, Project Runway, Sex in the City, and Ugly Betty to name a few. Known for her poised characters, startling satire and original music, her on stage comedy is bold, brash, colorful and in-your-face.

In addition, a special Nite Spot Nights event will take place on New Years Eve. Details will be announced soon.

Tickets for Nite Spot Nights are $25.00 and available online at www.milfordarts.org or call 203-878-6647.
