This modern riff on the medieval morality play Everyman follows Everybody (chosen from the cast via lottery at each performance) as they question and explore life's most basic and universal elements of death, love, friendship, family, God. etc. Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (Gloria, An Octoroon) bases EVERYBODY on the 15th century morality play that instructs sinners on how to repent and seek redemption.
Complete cast and crew have been announced for Pride Films and Plays' Chicago premiere of HOLDING THE MAN, a drama from Australia chronicling the 15-year relationship of a real-life gay male couple, based on Timothy Conigrave's celebrated memoir of the same name. In 1976, Tim and John meet as teenagers at their all-boys Catholic school in Melbourne and become boyfriends. The story follows them into adulthood as their relationship endures in spite of such obstacles as parental resistance, differing views on monogamy, separation, and finally HIV.
Casting is complete for HURRICANE DAMAGE, a world-premiere dramedy by the New York-based playwright Kevin Brofsky that will be the fourth entry in Pride Films and Plays' five-show PAC Pride Fest. HURRICANE DAMAGE, opening on August 3 after previews on August 1 and 2, concerns two long-time partners, veterans of the 1970's gay scene in New York, living on Florida's Gulf Coast. Dennis and Oscar are visited by an old friend of those days, a photographer named Norman who has remained single and brings back bittersweet memories of their glory days in Manhattan. The couple will be played by company member Charles A. Berglund as Dennis and Danne W. Taylor as Oscar.
The new Chicago-area theater company Ogorod Productions (whose name is taken from the Russian word for 'vegetable garden') has announced their cast and production team for THE FANTASTICKS, with book & lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt.
Pride Films and Plays has announced a series of discussions in conjunction with its American premiere of PINK ORCHIDS - a British play in which five eloquently interwoven and often funny monologues explore the experience of living with HIV from the perspectives of those living with the virus and those who care for and care about HIV+ persons. Staff members from Test Positive Awareness Network (TPAN) and other HIV activists will lead the weekly discussions about living with in a world with HIV - either as someone who has tested positive for the virus or is vulnerable to it.

PINK ORCHIDS, by Patrick Cash, is a British play in which five eloquently interwoven and often funny monologues explore the experience of living with HIV - a virus that attacks the emotions as well as the body. It premiered in London in 2016 under the title THE HIV MONOLOGUES. This production will be directed by Brennan T. Jones and will open to the press on Friday, June 8 at 7:30 pm, in the Pride Arts Center's Buena space. Jones directed JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS for Pride Films and Plays in summer 2017 and was Assistant Director for TimeLine Theatre's THE AUDIENCE last fall.

BoHo Theatre continues its 2018 season with Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's classic musical A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film SMILES OF A SUMMER NIGHT. Intimately staged with a focus on character and relationships, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC challenges audiences and artists alike with its complex musicality and darkly comedic themes of love and longing.
