The nominees for the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS 2011 were announced this morning by Malin Akerman ('27 Dresses,' 'Watchmen'), Michael Chiklis, ('No Ordinary Family'), Zachary Levi ('Chuck'), AnnaLynne McCord ('90210'), Jeff Probst ('Survivor') and Audrina Patridge ('The Hills'), along with host Queen Latifah and Executive Producer Mark Burnett at The London West Hollywood Hotel. Prior to the announcement, over 35 million votes were cast by fans across the country. Fans were invited to pick new categories and determine the nominees for the annual awards show that celebrates fan favorites in movies, music and television.

CHCI's 33rd Annual Awards Gala, the hallmark event of Hispanic Heritage Month will take place on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The 33rd Annual Awards Gala is hosted by Toyota. With the theme, 'Celebrating History, Heritage, and the American Dream,' CHCI will present Medallion of Excellence awards to actress Eva Longoria Parker and jazz legend Arturo Sandoval, and the CHCI Chair's Award to Broadway composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In The Heights). CNN's Soledad O'Brien will serve as the celebrity host.

As previously reported, Broadway veteran Vanessa Williams will join the cast of Desperate Housewives as a series regular this season. Housewives creator Marc Cherry has been in search for a new trouble-maker for the block since Nicolette Sheridan's departure from the show. Check out this first promo for the upcoming season, which is set to begin Sunday September 26 at 9/8c.
TVGuide.com reports that Lois Smith will be the newest member of Wasteria Lane this upcoming season, playing the role of 'Allison Scavo,' mother to 'Tom (played by Soug Savant). Smith's character will be taking up residence with 'Lynette' (Felicity Huffman) and 'Tom' in order to help him beat a case of postpartum depression.
