HECUBA Set for New York Euripides Summer Festival

As part of ATT's 2015 summer series, American Thymele Theatre is presenting the New York Euripides Summer Festival from July 28th to August 1st. Five free, fully staged performances of Euripides' Hecuba are presented in select New York City stages.

Broadway-Bound WHAT WOMEN DO (AND MEN TOO) Gets Reading at MTC Studios Tonight

A cast of six will lead a reading of the Broadway-bound WHAT WOMEN DO (and men too) written by playwright and Broadway performer William Youmans and directed by Don Stephenson. The new play is a battle-of-the-sexes farce set in New York City. The reading, which is being produced by The Resonance Ensemble, takes place tonight, July 7, 2015 at 7:00 p.m at the Manhattan Theatre Club Studios (311 W 43rd Street 8th Floor) and is open to the public.

Classical Theatre of Harlem's THE TEMPEST Begins Tonight

The 15th anniversary season of The Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) (Ty Jones, Producing Artistic Director; David Roberts, Managing Director) continues with CTH's free, summer, uptown production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest, presented in partnership with City Parks Foundation's SummerStage festival. The Carl Cofield-directed production, which stars New York theater and Broadway veteran Ron Cephas Jones, will transform the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park into an enchanted Caribbean island where the magic takes flight, with an elaborate aerial design elements planned. The third annual CTH Under the Stars presentation holds previews tonight, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Performances, which are free and open to the public, run from July 5 through 26.

The Rose Playhouse Stages IPHIGENIA IN TAURIS, Now thru July 4

Director Pamela Schermann, whose productions at The Rose Playhouse include The Taming of the Shrew, Orpheus and Eurydice and Othello, directs (Hon) Artistic Associate of The Rose, Suzanne Marie, in a new production of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Iphigenia in Tauris.

Physical Festival Chicago Sets Celebration of Physical Theater Program

Physical Festival Chicago announced today the full program for its second annual celebration of this energetic, imaginative and boundary-breaking form of theater. The following companies and artists will participate in this week-long event to be held July 7-12: Single Shoe Productions (UK, Portugal & USA), Walkabout Theater Company (Chicago), DeCollage (Spain) and David Gaines (Washington DC). The Festival will also feature a Scratch Night, a preview of what's next in the physical theater scene, and four professional Master Classes with the visiting artists at Columbia College Chicago, 916 S. Wabash Ave. The performances will take place at Links Hall, 3111 N. Western Ave., Chicago.
