Photo Flash: Beowulf Alley Theatre Presents BLACKBIRD, 12/3 - 12/19

Beowulf Alley Theatre presents the 2007 Olivier Award-winner, BLACKBIRD by David Harrower. Performances will be held at the theatre, 11 South 6th Avenue, for three weekends only, December 3 - 19, 2010. Performance times are 7:30 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Directed by Laura Lippman, the cast includes Art Almquist, Elizabeth Leadon-Sonnenfelt and Chrissie Peterson.

African-American Shakespeare Company 2010-11 Season

San Francisco's African-American Shakespeare Company proudly announces the lineup for its 16th season. The season marks African-American Shakespeare Company's first season under the new artistic leadership of acclaimed actor and director L. Peter Callender. The season opens in September with IPH..., Colin Teevan's stunning adaptation of Euripides' classic Greek tragedy; Dylan Russell directs this co-production with Brava Theater. The company continues its season in December with an enchanting holiday production of CINDERELLA; this new take on the timeless fairytale has become a seasonal favorite for families and children of all ages. Closing the season in April is Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT, directed by L. Peter Callender and featuring an original score by renowned local jazz composer Marcus Shelby. Productions will be staged at Brava Theater and at the African American Art & Culture Complex, both located in San Francisco. Duncan, Rickman & Shaw Lead Abbey's 'BORKMAN' at BAM, 1/7-2/6

New School for Drama Closes NEW VISIONS, 12/11

The New School for Drama presents the second annual New Visions Drama Directing Festival, featuring three full-length plays spanning eras and styles, performed in repertory. The festival, which runs from December 8 through December 11, highlights the work of graduating MFA directing and acting students. All performances are free and open to the public.

The Oracle Theatre Presents A Night Of Poets Theater 12/5

Kenning Editions, Oracle Productions, and The Poetry Foundation are proud to announce a special collaboration that will give six local poets 48 hours to devise a program of POETS THEATER, accompanied by a panel discussion with Chicago-based poets, playwrights, and critics, plus a talkback and a book launch for The Kenning Anthology of Poets Theater: 1945-1985, edited by Kevin Killian and David Brazil. The six poets will first meet, devise and rehearse on Saturday, December 4, and present their work on Sunday, December 5, at Oracle Theatre, 3809 N. Broadway in Chicago. Sunday's panel discussion begins at 6:00 PM and the performance follows at 7:30. Talkback and book party follow immediately. Admission is free and open to the public in Oracle's Public Access Theatre. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at www.oracletheatre.org.

Director Sophie Hunter leads a dynamic cast and an international award-winning creative team from the worlds of opera, Broadway, film, and installation art in transforming this 19th-century Norwegian classic into a timeless and searing piece of theatre. Performances begin November 5th at the Access Theater, located at 380 Broadway.
