Virginia Arts Festival Presents 2017 Grammy Award Nominee KING

Los Angeles-based female vocal trio KING will make their Virginia Arts Festival debut at the Attucks Theatre on Friday, April 14. Consisting of twin sisters Paris and Amber Strother and their friend Anita Bias, KING has caused a flurry of crushes among music writers and critics, drawing glowing praise from such disparate journalistic sources as The New York Times, The Guardian (London), Rolling Stone, Billboard, GQ, and Noisey, the music channel of Vice.

Porter Carroll, Jr. to Bring THE EVOLUTION OF CABARET to The Metropolitan Room

Singer, songwriter, drummer, percussionist and founder of Newban (later changing its name to Atlantic Starr), the Rhythm and Blues hit machine from the '70s and '80s, Porter Carroll, Jr. with Wali Ali & The Tambourine Band are bringing 'The Evolution of Cabaret' to The Metropolitan Room on February 25, 2017 at 9:30 PM.

February is Smoking at Blue Note Hawaii

February is jam packed at Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, starting off with a tribute to some of the world's most celebrated artists lost in 2016 by local singer/songwriter Tim Rose. Jazz songstress Karrin Allyson makes her Blue Note Hawaii debut for four nights, followed by soulful GRAMMY® Award-winning songwriter Marc Cohn. Other notable artists include Mike Izon, Tsun Hui Hung, Meleana Brown, Maryanne Ito, Tavana, Donavon Frankenreiter, Max V, Willie K, Blayne Asing, Israel Vibration & Roots Radics, Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole and DeAndre Brackensick.

New BRIC Series, BRIC House Sessions, Kicks Off with Roy Ayers 2/16

Every Thursday this winter and spring, BRIC's new concert series BRIC House Sessions will explore a wide array of genres - like a playlist come to life - with musicians who are pushing music forward in extraordinary and inventive ways. Spanning two stages, BRIC House Sessions will start with a set by local musicians and DJs on the Stoop overlooking the Gallery, followed by a session with a featured artist inside the state-of-the-art BRIC House Ballroom - one of the best new spaces for live music in Brooklyn. The series kicks off on February 16 with a performance headlined by "godfather of neo-soul" Roy Ayers and featuring an opening set by Shareef Keyes.
