'The Showtune Mosh Pit' for June 24th, 2015

The latest in unauthorized gossip and buzz from the heart of Chicago's showtune video bars, and musical theater news from Chicago to Broadway. 'On Your Feet!' and 'City Of Angels' rake in the reviews, while Bette plays the UC. Emerald City Theatre to Bring A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS to Broadway Playhouse

Broadway In Chicago and Emerald City Theatre are thrilled to announce A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS by Charles M. Schulz will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) November 14, 2015 through January 3, 2016. Based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson and adapted for the stage by Eric Schaeffer by special arrangement with Arthur Whitelaw and Ruby Persson,  A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS will be directed by Emerald City Theatre Artistic Director Ernie Nolan.

Cor Theatre Brings LOVE & HUMAN REMAINS Back to Chicago Tonight

Chicago's summer theater season promises to heat up considerably when Brad Fraser's ground-breaking play, Love and Human Remains, a bawdy, carnal, modern day tale of Chicago thirtysomethings on the hunt for love, sex and acceptance while a serial killer is in their midst, returns to Chicago after a 20+ year absence in a daring new production from Cor Theatre, directed by Ernie Nolan.

DePaul University to Present THE DAY JOHN HENRY CAME TO SCHOOL, 4/7-5/16

The Theatre School at DePaul University will present The Day John Henry Came to School by Eric Pfeffinger, directed by Ernie Nolan, as the final production of the 2014-2015 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences season. This production opens April 7, 2015 and runs through May 16, 2015, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM, and Todays 2 PM. Special Friday performances (10 AM) will occur on April 24 and May 1. A Sunday performance will be held on April 12 (2 PM).

The Theatre School at DePaul University will host the One Theatre World 2015 national conference, today, May 7 through May 9, 2015, produced by Theatre for Young Audiences/USA (TYA/USA). TYA/USA is a national service organization whose mission is to promote the power of professional theatre for young audiences through excellence, collaboration, and innovation across cultural and internal boundaries.

Broadway In Chicago and Emerald City Theatre have announced FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL, based on the bestselling book series by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser, will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) July 11 through August 23, 2015. FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL will be directed by Emerald City Theatre Artistic Director Ernie Nolan with a book and lyrics by Susan DiLallo and music and lyrics by Danny Abosch.

The classic story of Hansel & Gretel reimagined as a rock musical for all ages will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) tonight, November 22, 2014 through January 4, 2015.

Cor Theatre to Bring A MAP OF VIRTUE & LOVE AND HUMAN REMAINS to Rivendell Theatre

Cor Theatre, the ambitious new Chicago company that first made its mark with Skin Tight at A Red Orchid Theatre in 2012, is returning with two major productions in the first half of 2015: the Midwest premiere of Erin Courtney's psychological thriller A Map of Virtue, hailed 'one of the most terrifying plays of the past decade' by the New York Times (January 8-February 14, 2015), and Love and Human Remains, the first Chicago professional production in nearly 20 years of the ground-breaking play originally titled Unidentified Human Remains and the Nature of True Love (June 4-July 11, 2015).
