The Dallas Opera Presents TENOR MATTHEW POLENZANI, 1/11

The Dallas Opera, in the latest installment of The Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Art Song Recital Series, will present the phenomenal American tenor,Matthew Polenzani, in an exclusive, one-time-only recital on the afternoon of Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Southern Methodist University's popular Caruth Auditorium (an intimate 490-seat venue located in the Owen Arts Center, 6101 Bishop, Dallas, TX 75205). The two o'clock recital will also feature the exciting and accomplished playing of Mr. Polenzani's frequent recording partner, pianistJulius Drake.

BWW Reviews: Playful Piano & Puppetry in Debussy's 'La Boîte à Joujoux' at Castleton

The Castleton Festival, a longtime fixture on the classical music scene located a comfortable hour and a half from Washington, DC, recently celebrated Debussy's playful side with a full performance of his piece for piano, La Boite a Joujoux ('The Toy Box'). Pianist Orion Weiss, working with Director Hinrich Horstkotte of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre, was inspired to bring the music, scenario and images to life through a puppet show that incorporated all the toys from the original.

Italian Composer Ludovico Einaudi to Play QPAC

Ludovico Einaudi, the chart-topping Italian composer behind music for Golden Globe nominated box-office record breaker The Intouchables and Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, will perform one concert only at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on Wednesday 11 February 2015.

Ludovico Einaudi, the chart-topping composer behind music for Oscar-winning film Black Swan, Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar and box-office record breaker The Intouchables will be returning to Melbourne at Hamer Hall, on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February 2015. The concert will feature his latest album In a Time Lapse amidst a display of piano-led ballads and euphoric film scores in a sound that envelops the audience.

UN LIEU DE VIE to Play Gallery MC, 10/26-11/3

Allan Markowitz and concrete timbre & d'moiselles present Un Lieu de Vie, a bilingual (English and French), hybrid music-theatre work, at Gallery MC (549 West 52nd Street, between 10th and 11th Ave.) October 26th through November 3rd. Ann Warren directs, and Whitney George is the musical director.

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century Presents THE TRIAL OF OSCAR WILDE, Now thru 6/21

Fresh off its recent Tchaikovsky production at BAM Fisher, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents another fully staged theatrical concert interweaving drama and music about one of the most famous trials of the 19th century. Delivered by a top-caliber cast in an intimate setting, The Trial of Oscar Wilde focuses on the tragic shackling, public scrutiny, and subsequent imprisonment of the homosexual playwright/writer Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). A script based on Wilde's correspondence, plays, and short stories (performed by Broadway's Michael Halling as Oscar Wilde and esteemed Robert Ian Mackenzie as Lord Queensbury) provides a dramatic backdrop for chamber music by French and English composers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries including Chausson's masterful Concerto for violin, piano and string quartet, and works by Satie, Elgar, Faure and Franck in performances by the dynamic Amphion String Quartet, violinist Susie Park, pianist Max Barros and a romping barbershop quartet.

The Joyce Theater Announces 2014-2015 Season Featuring Pacific Northwest Ballet, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet and More

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater, announced today the organization's programming for its 2014-2015 fall/winter season, launching September 9 with the New York premiere of Christopher Wheeldon's extravagant production of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, danced by the magnificent dancers of the National Ballet of Canada at the David H. Celebrating its 13th season, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart at The Fishman Space in the new BAM Fisher. A fully staged theatrical concert blending striking music, powerful language and biography, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart delves into the unconventional 16-year long relationship between one of the great composers of the 19th century and his patroness, Madame von Meck. Written by Eve Wolf and directed by Donald T. Sanders, this evening-length production seamlessly interweaves a dramatic script performed by actor Simon Fortin (Tchaikovsky) and actress Ariel Bock (Madame von Meck) of Shakespeare & Company with live chamber and vocal music performed by violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Adrian Daurov, pianist Eve Wolf and tenor Blake Friedman. Featuring some of Tchaikovsky's epic pieces including Piano Trio in A Minor, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart represents some of the composer's balletic works through dance both choreographed and performed by American Ballet Theatre dancer Daniel Mantei.

This winter, The Joffrey Ballet revisits its contemporary roots with a mixed repertory program titled 'Contemporary Choreographers,' an evening of three pieces, two by some of contemporary ballet's most luminous choreographers working today and one by a local 'rising star' choreographer. 'Contemporary Choreographers' is presented in 10 performances only at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E.
