BWW Reviews: If Only Your Neighbors Were THE BOYS NEXT DOOR

Whether at their best or worst, Erica and Ben are always honest and authentic, and that honesty and authenticity is what The Boys Next Door revolves around. As Tom Griffin's outstanding text requires that 'normal' actors play the four central roles, getting that sense of honesty is tough. The actors must show how quirky and unique these men are but must keep the characters from becoming offensive caricatures.

BWW Reviews: Loaded Gun Theory's Original BROTHERS MERLIN is Campy, Frivolous Fun

No matter what the show, most theatrical experiences are rather similar. You park your car, show your tickets to an usher, find your seat, sit quietly for a few hours, applaud the cast, and then go home. Still, once in a while a theater company has the brains and imagination to create a truly unique and unexpected experience. It's clear that Loaded Gun Theory is one such company which likes to push the envelope and break the traditional, predicable mold. The constant breaking of theatrical conventions is one of many ideas that makes their current production, The Brothers Merlin, such an unmitigated success.

BWW Reviews: Murderous Fun Comes to Austin with IT COULD BE ANY ONE OF US

Though murder mysteries are a dime a dozen, mysteries this fun are not. It Could be Any One of Us is an absolute joy and a fantastic parody that pays reverence to the mystery genre as it simultaneously rips it to shreds with its witty script and flawless performances. This much fun should be deadly.

BWW Review: Rep's Brilliantly Funny Production of OVER THE TAVERN

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis continues their stellar season with their third consecutive play concerning issues of faith, and just like those other two productions, it's a definite winner. Playwright Tom Dudzick has constructed a terrific, semi-autobiographical coming of age piece that's both uproariously funny and emotionally touching. OVER THE TAVERN is required viewing, and a perfect indulgence for the holiday season, with a wonderful cast delivering impressive performances under the expert guidance of director Michael Evan Haney.
