Theo Ubique Presents SWEET AND HOT, Previews 6/18

Theo Ubique's next show, Sweet and Hot: The Songs of Harold Arlen, is a musical revue of some of the 20th century's most popular tunes. It is presented in association with Michael James with previews at 8 p.m., June 18-19, opening night at 7 p.m., June 20 and running at 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays and 7 p.m., Sundays through August 8 at the No Exit Cafe in Rogers Park.

No Exit Cafe is being reconfigured to resemble a late 1940s/early 1950s neighborhood cabaret by Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre for its next show, "Sweet and Hot: The Songs of Harold Arlen," performed in association with Michael James, opening Sunday, June 20.

Non-Equity Jeff Awards Nominations Announced

The Jeff Awards have announced 105 nominations in 24 categories for Non-Equity Jeff Awards, which honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract, for productions that opened between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010. The Jeff Awards judged the opening nights of 116 productions offered by 55 non-Equity producing organizations and recommended 51 shows for further judging, making those 51 eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations in all categories.

Ouisa Kittredge read somewhere that 'everybody on this planet is separated by only six other people.' When Paul, a young victim of a knife attack, seeks assistance at her family's upper-class New York home, she discovers how true that statement really is.

Artistic Directors Ronan Mara and Joseph Stearns announced the next two productions in Signal Ensemble Theatre's 2008-2009, sixth anniversary season, 'Six Degrees of Separation' and 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie,' presenting a diverse slate which focuses on different individuals and their struggles with the pressures of society and the consequences of their choices. Both productions will be directed by Artistic Director Ronan Marra.
