Chef Geraldine Gilliland to Release THE LULA COCINA COOKBOOK
by BWW News Desk
- Mar 3, 2015
Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Chef, animal welfare advocate, and renowned Restaurateur Geraldine Gilliland is slated to release her most recent cookbook 'The Lula Cocina Cookbook-Recipes from Mexico to Malibu' (Savory Books) on May 5, 2015. Some of the highlights from the cookbook include recipes for: Chia Limeade, The Lula Blood Orange Margarita, Calamari in Orange Lime Escabeche, Crab Cakes with Tomatillo Sauce, Goat Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast with Jalapeño Jelly, and Ginger Flan, to name a few.
Of the book, Geraldine shares, 'I've always loved the flair and flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine, so much so that over 20 years ago I traveled to Mexico City to tour the area with Lula Bertran and learn how to cook her authentic recipes. From that experience, my vision for the restaurant 'Lula' was born. Now that it's been a great success, I want to bring those recipes, along with my own personal twists, to as many food lovers as possible with 'The Lula Cocina Cookbook.' The dishes in the book are perfect for your next fiesta, be it Cinco de Mayo, or just for everyday meals. I just know you'll love the recipes as much as I do!'
'The Lula Cocina Cookbook' is currently available for pre-order on Amazon. All proceeds from the book will be donated to 'Chiquita's Friends,' a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of abused and abandoned animals in the Southern California area.
In addition to launching this cookbook, Geraldine is also slated to receive the 2015 'Irish Woman of the Year' Award from the Los Angeles City Council (Friday March 13). Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilman Tom LeBonge and Terry Anderson of the Irish Fair will be in attendance.
