Breaking News - SOMETHING ROTTEN! to Skip Seattle and Open at the St. James Theatre in Spring 2015; Casey Nicholaw Set to Direct!

Producer Kevin McCollum has just announced that SOMETHING ROTTEN!, a completely original new musical comedy directed and choreographed by Tony-winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), with music and lyrics by Grammy -winner Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O'Farrell, will begin previews March 23 and officially open April 22, 2015 at Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street).

SOMETHING ROTTEN! Heading to Broadway's St. James Theatre?

Earlier today it ws announced that Side Show will close at the St James Theatre in January, and according to the New York Times, Something Rotten! might takeover the space. A New York City developmental lab was held this fall, under the direction of Casey Nicholaw. Leading the cast (of the Lab, and not necessarily future productions) were Christian Borle, John Cariani, Allen Fitzpatrick, Brian d'Arcy James, Beth Leavel, Brad Oscar, Kate Reinders, Jeff Steizter, and Gerry Vichi.

Phillip Phillips Comes to Wells Fargo Center for the Arts Tonight

Today, Wells Fargo Center for the Arts announced American Idol Season 11 winner and critically acclaimed artist Phillip Phillips will make his Santa Rosa debut tonight, December 12, 2014 at 8:00 PM at the Ruth Finley Person Theater (50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa).

The Wailers Come to The Colonial Theatre Tonight

Berkshire Theatre Group presents legendary band The Wailers at the Colonial Theatre tonight, December 3 at 7:30pm. On the 30th anniversary of its release in 1984, The Wailers will be touring the US in 2014, performing the iconic album Legend in its entirety. Named by Time Magazine as the 'Best Album of the 20th Century' and #46 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Legend is also the best-selling reggae album of all-time, with over 30 million copies sold worldwide. Together with Bob Marley, The Wailers have sold over 250 million albums and have played to an estimated 24 million people across the globe. The anchor of the band is Aston 'Family Man” Barrett, who was co-producer on many of Bob Marley's records and was responsible for almost all of the bass lines on Marley's hits.

Blind Boys of Alabama Play Symphony Space Tonight

Symphony Space will welcome the season with the iconic gospel group Blind Boys of Alabama tonight, December 3 (8 pm) in the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. Their holiday program, 'Go Tell It On the Mountain,' features an inspired selection of traditional spirituals, Christmas standards, and original tunes, all rendered in the soul-stirring vocal harmonies and funky instrumental backings that have brought them five Grammy Awards and international renown. Reviewing their CD of the same title, Mojo magazine wrote, 'There's nothing remotely schmaltzy or cloyingly sentimental about this seasonal offering from the veteran gospel group.'

JEFF BECK Announces 2015 Solo Tour Dates

It was announced today, Jeff Beck will headline a string of solo dates, beginning April 16th with a pair of intimate engagements in Huntington, New York before wrapping up on April 26th in Greensburg, PA. Beginning April 30th in Cedar Park, TX, Beck and ZZ Top will make-up the rescheduled dates from this past September when the hugely successful double-bill tour was cut short due to an unfortunate injury to ZZ Top bassist, Dusty Hill.

Lena Hall, Fred Schneider and Miriam Shor Join Next Month's Don Hill Tribute Concert

On December 7, Hedwig and the Angry Inch composer/lyricist/co-creator Stephen Trask and punk rockers Tits of Clay (the off-stage alter ego of the band performing as the Angry Inch in the current Broadway production of the show) return to the site of the show's genesis-the world famous Don Hill's, soon to re-open as The Hills NYC-to play a special Hedwig-themed tribute to legendary booker, promoter and club owner Don Hill.

Geva Theatre Center's Son House Project Launches 11/2

In December of 2013, Geva Theatre Center was selected as a recipient of a prestigious grant from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation to create a multimedia celebration on the life and work of legendary blues guitarist, Son House. The 18-month project, entitled "A Journey to the Son," will bring together musicians, writers, artists and the area's leading regional theatre company in a "creative collision" to celebrate one of Rochester's own, Eddie "Son" House. The project will culminate in a four-day celebration in August weaving together stories, music, theatre, film, audio recordings, storytelling and lectures.
