Eight productions have been announced for the eagerly anticipated 2009 Summer Play Festival (SPF). For its upcoming season, SPF will again be presented at The Public Theater. SPF 2009 will run from July 7 to August 2 and, as in years past, is expected to serve as a highlight of the summer theatre season by showcasing a line-up of new talent.

Drama of Works Celebrates 10th Anniversary with PUPPET KAFKA, Limited Engagement begins April 22 at HERE In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Drama of Works will present the World Premiere of PUPPET KAFKA. Directed by Gretchen Van Lente, this new play by B. Walker Sampson is based on the life and work of Franz Kafka. Previews begin Wednesday, April 22nd at HERE Arts Center with opening slated for Sunday, April 26th.
Atlantic Theater Company announces complete casting for the world premiere of Leslie Ayvazian's new comedy MAKE ME, directed by Atlantic Associate Artistic Director Christian Parker. Broadway veterans Anthony Arkin (I'm Not Rappaport); Candy Buckley (After The Fall); Jessica Hecht (Julius Caesar); J.R. Horne (The Crucible); Richard Masur (Democracy) and Ellen Parker (The Heidi Chronicles) will star in Atlantic's final production of its 2008-2009 season, beginning previews at Atlantic Stage 2 on May 19 and opening May 31. Playwright and screenwriter Ayvazian's hit Off-Broadway play Nine Armenians won the Kennedy Center's Roger L. Stevens Award, the John Gassner Outer Critics Award and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.
American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2008-09 season Koret Visiting Artist Series with a conversation with Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and OBIE Award-winning playwright José Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries, Marisol, and A.C.T.'s Brainpeople), whose Boleros for the Disenchanted will take the A.C.T. stage in May.

Flying Machine Productions today announced that the Off-Broadway premiere of BLOOD TYPE: RAGU, a new play written and performed by Frank Ingrasciotta, and directed by Ted Sod, will conclude its run at the newly restored Actors' Playhouse (100 Seventh Avenue South) after the matinee on Sunday April 5th. Huntington Theatre Company Artistic Director Peter DuBois makes his Boston directorial debut with the world premiere of David Grimm's outrageous comedy, 'The Miracle at Naples.' Tony and Drama Desk Award-winner Dick Latessa ('Hairspray') returns to the Huntington to play Don Bertolino Fortunato, the leader of a troupe of commedia players who are down on their luck. Lucy DeVito, daughter of acclaimed actors/comedians Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman, makes her Huntington debut as La Piccola, Don Bertolino's long-suffering daughter and member of the troupe. 'The Miracle at Naples' is for mature audiences.
