Local and International Artists to Showcase Work & Installations in Restored Paper Factory Hotel and Mundo New York Restaurant as Part of Annual LIC Arts Open - Queens' Largest Art Festival On Thursday, May 14, The 'Mundo We Live In' art & performance exhibition will host an opening party for its show at the Paper Factory Hotel and Mundo New York restaurant in Long Island City as part of the annual LIC Arts Open event in May to showcase art and performances by emerging local and international artists. The work exhibited will present direct, gritty and revolutionary points of view that will challenge even the most jaded art aficionado. Running concurrently with the Frieze Art Fair New York, the 'Mundo We Live In Show' challenges more traditional ideas about artistic expression, a stone's throw from Frieze, but a world away. 'The art in this show deals with the worlds we live in during our daily struggles, defects, and challenges and shows us where we come from and where we are going - on the outside and the inside of our perceptions and fears,' said Julián Calderón, director of artist relations, JP Art Acquisition, who curated the exhibition. 'The show was designed to challenge visitors to ask questions, comment and most of all share their thoughts about what they see,' added Calderón. Artists included in the exhibition will include (listed alphabetically): Facundo Bengoechea (Argentina); Julian Calderon (USA); Natalie Graetzel (USA); Zoltán Krizsán (Hungary); Shawn Lefevre (USA); Enrique Ortiz (USA); Alfredo Echeverria Ripstein (Mexico); SEK (USA) Christopher Stach (USA) 'We selected these artists because their work presents us not with answers but compels us to question ourselves and the world we live in and create,' said Julián Calderón. You can see the work of these artists at www.jp-artnewyork.com. In addition to showcasing art and performances, the exhibition will include curator and artist led talks and discussions. The show was conceived, organized and drawn together by JP Art Acquisition, private art dealers based in New York and Los Angeles, that discover, mentor and manage emerging artists from around the world and help bring them to the attention of collectors, galleries and museums. The exhibition was commissioned by Mundo New York restaurant located in the Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City, a community that is fast becoming a cornerstone of art, design and fashion that's starting to rival its neighbor, Brooklyn. The Paper Factory Hotel has graciously provided various exhibition areas in the hotel for the event, as well as help organize the exhibits. The hotel is a renovated and reconstructed 100 year old paper factory, an ideal location for this groundbreaking creative showcase of art and performance experience. The exhibition will be included in the 2015 LIC Arts Open, Queens' largest arts festival, which runs from May 13 through May 17. At this annual event, artists will open their studios to offer visitors a glimpse into their private world of the artist at work, which will also include innovative dance, theatre and music performances, throughout Long Island City. Orange County, Calif.-May 11, 2015-One of America's most versatile and prolific living composers, Andre Previn, joins Pacific Symphony as the honored guest and focus of the 15th American Composers Festival (ACF). Previn, who has been called one of America's least easily categorized musicians, began his remarkable career as a Hollywood "wunderkind" and a best-selling jazz pianist. Now 86, Previn has received four Academy Awards for his work in film, 10 Grammy Awards for his recordings (plus one more for his Lifetime Achievement), and he is also an honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He's held a series of major conducting posts, including the L.A. Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra, but now exclusively composes. The concert is led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, whose great admiration for the legend shaped this year's ACF to reveal the scope of Previn's prowess as a composer.
