Twelfth Edition of PS122's Coil Features Dance, Theater, Virtual Reality and More

Performance Space 122's annual performance festival, Coil, returns for its twelfth edition with 13 individual events. The festival explores the constant vitality of live performance in New York City through contemporary artists from diverse genres, cultures and perspectives. Featuring work created locally, across the U.S., and around the world, Coil is known for its groundbreaking contemporary performance across interdisciplinary art, working with new technologies and forms. Through installations, live and virtual practices, PS122 is committed to redefining how, where, and when performance is experienced.

The Acme Corporation Presents STRANGER KINDNESS

The Acme Corporation, Baltimore's award-winning theatre ensemble, will present Stranger Kindness, adapted, arranged, and directed by co-artistic directors Stephen Nunns and Lola B. Pierson, December 1 through 17 at The Great Hall at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1900 St. Paul Street, Baltimore.

Chicago Dancemakers Forum Announces Artist-Presenter Collaborations

Today the Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF) and High Concept Labs (HCL) are pleased to announce the first-ever, city-wide Artist-Presenter Collaborations for Dance symposium, to be held October 8 at HCL, located at 2233 South Throop Street in Chicago.

Ain Gordon World Premiere Set for Painted Bride Arts Center

1972: Dr. John Fryer dons an oversize tuxedo and rubber joke shop mask to become Dr. Henry Anonymous and confront the American Psychiatric Association with these words: 'I am a homosexual, I am a psychiatrist.' The latest work by renowned theatre artist Ain Gordon, 217 Boxes of Dr. Henry Anonymous, is a new play drawn from the 217 boxes of archive materials from national LGBT activist of Dr. John Fryer discovered by Ain Gordon during his two-year embedded artist status at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP). This new work is set to run, May 5-7, at the Painted Bride Arts Center, 230 Vine Street. All performances are at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20. BWW Review: WITCHES OF EASTWICK, Old Rep Theatre Birmingham, March 19 2016

Stage musical Witches of Eastwick was adapted from John Updike's novel of the same name thirteen years after the film was released in 1987- starring Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer. The show opened in London to mixed reviews but since then has been performed internationally. The last time it was seen professionally in this country was on the 2008 UK tour, starring Marti Pellow - a production I was fortunate enough to see.

National Talent Comes Home for Empire Theatre Company's FALSETTOS Tonight

Empire Theatre Company will present William Finn's Tony Award-winning musical, FALSETTOS, opening tonight, February 4th. This laugh-out-loud production notably features regional favorites Darin Kerr and Cody Gerszewski in addition to Grand Forks native and national talent Michael Marcotte.
