In honor of Disney's INTO THE WOODS film, APPLICATION PENDING star Christina Bianco performed The Witch's songs, showing how celebrities other than Meryl Streep might have performed the role, at Don't Tell Mama in New York City last month. Watch below!

Rob Marshall ('Chicago,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean') helms the long overdue film adaptation of the 1987 Tony Award-winning musical INTO THE WOODS, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim ('Sweeney Todd,' 'Assassins') and book--now a moderately revised screenplay--by James Lapine ('Passion,' Falsettos').

As readers of BroadwayWorld.com will know, Stephen Sondheim's new song written for Meryl Streep to sing in the movie, 'She'll Be Back,' was shot, but later cut after an early preview. The good news is that the song will appear on the film's DVD, and the even better news is that sheet music has been released today for purchase!

According to Deadline, Universal has nabbed Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to helm THE HUNTSMAN. Previously announced director Frank Darabont departed the project last week.

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and Paramount Television announced today that actresses Julianne Hough ('Safe Haven,' 'Rock of Ages') and Vanessa Hudgens ('Gigi', 'High School Musical,' 'Spring Breakers') have been cast in leading roles in GREASE: LIVE (working title). With Hough as the angelic 'Sandy' - Rydell High's most talked-about newcomer - and Hudgens as iconic bad girl 'Rizzo,' this first-ever live television production of 'Grease' will re-imagine the hit crossover musical for an entirely new generation.

Film and television stars (and audiences) are sure to come out in droves when funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take the stage for a final time (so they say!) to host the Golden Globes, tonight on NBC at 8pm/7c. While the annual ceremony wouldn't be as geared toward theatre people as, say, the Tony Awards (June 7th on CBS for those who need a heads-up), this year is a bit different, with a collection of nominees having Broadway experience, and a few films up for nods having ties to theatre as well.
