New York Coalition of Professional Women in the Arts & Media will present its biannual Collaboration Awards at a champagne reception at the Gershwin Hotel, 7 East 27th Street, on March 2, 2009, at 6:30pm, Co-Presidents, Erica Silberman & Lisa Barnes announced today. Winners of the $1000 prize are Jennifer Gibbs, author of the play, Sounding & its director, Kristin Marting. Gibbs based the play, currently in workshop at HERE, on Henrik Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea. Marting & Gibbs plan a multi-media production, including film & music.

Hourglass Group, producers of Beebo Brinker Chronicles (2008 GLAAD Media Award) and Trouble in Paradise (2007 Obie), announce the World Premiere of Elyse Singer's FREQUENCY HOPPING at 3LD Art & Technology Center. Winner of the 2007 STAGE International Script Competition, FREQUENCY HOPPING is a multidisciplinary play based on the 1940 collaboration between glamorous Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr (1914-2000) and composer George Antheil (1900-1959) on a secret communication system.
