In honor of La MaMa's 50th Anniversary season, Italy's Dario D'Ambrosi will stage 'Teatro Patologico in New York,' a festival of Pathological Theater and Film, December 15 to 22, 2011, mounting one large new work plus three smaller plays that are a cross-section of his 31 years of productions at La MaMa.

THE LA MAMA CANTATA is a musical depiction of the life and times of Ellen Stewart, La MaMa's late founder and artistic director, with a text comprised of Ms. Stewart's own words and those of others who wrote about and knew the legendary woman affectionately called 'Mama.'

Elizabeth Swados' new music theatre work THE LA MAMA CANTATA -- given its world-premiere for two performances in November -- returns by popular demand to the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) for two additional performances during the holiday season on December 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m., it has been announced by La MaMa's artistic director Mia Yoo.

HEINER MÜLLER'S MACBETH AFTER SHAKESPEARE will make its North American premiere at La MaMa.

In a featured presentation of its 50th Anniversary season, La MaMa E.T.C. will reprise 'Golem' by Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre (CAMT), a dance-theater rendition of the famed Jewish legend that may have been the first-ever puppet 'Golem' when La MaMa presented it in 1997.

HOLIDAY STUCCO will feature new one-act plays by members of The Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group including playwrights Nikole Beckwith, Chris Craigin Day, Deen, Sevan Kaloustian Green, Aaron Wigdor Levy, Mona Mansour, Don Nguyen, Jerome Parker, Stalla Fawn Ragsdale, Akin Salawu, and Pia Wilson. The recipient of the first-ever ELLEN STEWART AWARD -- the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard -- has chosen young playwright Matthew Paul Olmos as the initial participant in the new award being presented this season by La MaMa, it was announced at La MaMa 50th Gala celebrating the start of the internationally-renowned theatre's 50th anniversary season, held on Monday, October 17 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) in Manhattan.
