For the first time in 40 years Vancouver audiences will experience the magnificence of Verdi's spectacular masterpiece, Don Carlo, the emotionally gripping drama of a king's brutal power and a son's brash rebellion. With formidable orchestral forces, a massive chorus and a powerhouse international cast, VO's final – and biggest – production of 2013-2014promises to be this season's most explosive experience yet!

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra welcomes back revered conductor, and former CSO Creative Director, Rafael Fru?hbeck de Burgos for his second engagement of the 2013- 14 season. Tonight, February 28 and March 1 at historic Music Hall, Maestro Fru?hbeck de Burgos will conduct one of the most epic works in orchestral and choral repertoire-Verdi's Requiem. The piece pulls together massive forces of orchestra, chorus and soloists for an impassioned and dramatic blockbuster of human emotion. Perhaps best known for the famous 'Dies irae' movement, prevalent in pop culture in movies, advertisements and television, Verdi's masterpiece depicts a journey from terror and darkness to joy and light.

Tenor Matthew Polenzani, who has been praised as "perhaps the finest tenor voice of his generation" (Boston Phoenix), and fast-rising young star soprano Corinne Winters will launch the 2013-14 season of events of The George London Foundation for Singers with a recital at The Morgan Library and Museum on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 4:30 PM. The George London Foundation Recital Series presents pairs of outstanding opera singers, many of whom were winners of a George London prize early in their careers or are recent George London Award recipients. Mr. Polenzani is a 1998 George London Award winner, and Ms. Winters won a George London Award in 2012 (watch Corinne Winters's George London Award-winning performance of Meyerbeer's "Robert, toi que j'aime"here).

The Season sees seven new productions on the Main Stage including new productions of Parsifal, Les Vepres siciliennes, and Die Frau ohne Schatten to celebrate milestone anniversaries of Wagner, Verdi and Strauss respectively. Other new Main Stage productions include Don Giovanni from Kasper Holten and Manon Lescaut from Jonathan Kent.

Mezzo-soprano El?na Garan?a makes her New York recital debut in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with pianist Kevin Murphy on Saturday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. The program features lieder by Robert Schumann, Alban Berg, and Richard Strauss, including Schumann's Frauenliebe und -leben and Berg's 'Sieben fruhe Lieder.' Ekaterina Gubanova will sing the role of Giovanna Seymour for this fall's performances of Donizetti's Anna Bolena, replacing El?na Garan?a, who has withdrawn due to pregnancy. Gubanova will sing the performances on September 26, 30, and October 3, 6, 10, 15 18, 21, and 28. Casting for the performances on February 1 and 4 will be announced at a later date.

On April 2, Anna Netrebko returns to the Vienna Staatsoper to make her role debut as the title character in Donizetti's Anna Bolena, a role that she will take to New York in September to open the Metropolitan Opera's 2011-12 season.
