Jo Kreiter's Newest Aerial Dance Opens In San Francisco's Tenderloin This June

In partnership with the Tenderloin Museum, Flyaway Productions is proud to announce the world premiere of TENDER (n.): A PERSON WHO TAKES CHARGE, a site-specific aerial dance celebrating 100 years of "outcast activism" in the Tenderloin. Tender runs June 7 - 16 at the Cadillac Hotel, located at 380 Eddy Street, with performances at 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. A matinee performance at 12:30 p.m. will take place on Friday, June 8 and 15. Two additional performances at 9:30 p.m. will take place on Saturday, June 9 and 16. All performances are free, as is admission to the Museum, located on the ground floor of the Cadillac Hotel, during each performance.

THE BLACK CHOREOGRAPHERS FESTIVAL Returns 2/17 - 3/4

The African & African American Performing Arts Coalition and K*Star*Productions are pleased to announce the program for the Black Choreographers Festival: Here and Now 2018 (BCF), which takes place over three consecutive weekends, February 17 - March 4, in San Francisco and Oakland. Following the opening weekend at Dance Mission Theater in San Francisco, the festival moves to SAFEhouse Arts at 145 Eddy Street for weekend two, with a final program at Laney College Theater in Oakland, March 3 - 4. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

ODC Theater Announces 2017 Season

ODC, the most active center for contemporary dance on the West Coast, has announced the program for its 2017 Theater Season. Highlights include world premieres by David Gordon, FACT/SF, Monique Jenkinson, tinypistol, Laura Elaine Ellis and Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts, and West Coast premieres by Kate Weare Company and The Foundry. Additional season highlights include remounts of seminal works by Joanna Haigood and RAWdance.

OAKLAND, CA, July 21, 2016 -- The Black Choreographers Festival (BCF) has announced the program for its annual BCF Summer Series, featuring works by emerging and established African and African American choreographers, as well as pre-professional youth dancers. Featured artists include Gregory P. Dawson, director of dawsondancesf; Chris Evans in collaboration with Byb Chanel Bibene and musician David Boyce; Antoine Hunter, director of Urban Jazz Dance Company; Pat Taylor, director of JazzAntiqua Dance Ensemble; Latanya Tigner and Colette Eloi with Dimensions Dance Theater; and Kendra Barnes, artistic director of the Kendra Kimbrough Dance Ensemble and BCF co-director. The recent recipient of two Isadora Duncan Dance Awards, Flyaway Productions has announced the world premiere of Multiple Mary and Invisible Jane, an aerial dance about the experience of older homeless women created by choreographer Jo Kreiter in collaboration with award-winning composer Pamela Z and journalist Rose Aguilar. Multiple Mary and Invisible Jane opens tonight, September 12, 2014 and runs through Saturday, September 20.
