The King’s Head Theatre Relaunches as London's Little Opera House

London's very first fringe venue, the King's Head Theatre, opened in 1970 in the back room of a Victorian pub in Islington by maverick American Dan?Crawford, was the first pub theatre in England since the days of Shakespeare. Now the creative baton at this legendary venue has been handed over to an award-winning Australian producer-director, Adam Spreadbury-Maher, and his appointment as Artistic Director, heralds major changes.

Six Edward Bond Plays At The Cock Tavern

The Cock Tavern Theatre is presenting a landmark season of six Edward Bond plays from six decades from Tuesday 14 September to Saturday 13 November 2010. During the nine week season it is presenting the UK premiere of Olly's Prison (1993), a revival of The Pope's Wedding (1962), the London première of The Under Room (2005), The Fool (1976), the first revival of Red, Black and Ignorant (1985) and will culminate with a new, yet untitled première that Edward Bond has been commissioned to write for the Cock Tavern Theatre.

Theatre for a New Audience Presents NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND, Opens 11/7

Theatre for a New Audience, in association with Baryshnikov Arts Center, presents the New York premiere of Yale Repertory Theatre's production of Notes from Underground, the revolutionary novella by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Notes from Underground is adapted for the stage by the OBIE Award-winning actor Bill Camp, and Robert Woodruff. It is directed by Mr. Woodruff and stars Mr. Camp as the Underground Man.

Kingsmen Shakespeare Company Presents BINGO, 8/7 & 8/8

The 2010 Kingsmen Shakespeare Company Apprentices, Interns, and others have been diligently rehearsing on their 'days off' for a staged reading which will be performed on 8/7 and 8/8 at 2pm at The Acting Studio, Theatre Arts Building on Memorial Parkway, next to the football field on the campus of California Lutheran University.

Los Angeles's Antaeus Company to Present Double-Cast KING LEAR, 6/26-8/8

The Antaeus Company, Los Angeles's classical theater ensemble, will open ClassicsFest 2010 with King Lear, its first full production of a Shakespeare play. Bart DeLorenzo will direct King Lear with renowned scholar, actor, and Antaeus founding artistic director Dakin Matthews and Broadway veteran/three-time Tony nominee Harry Groener heading two fully double-cast ensembles. Two gala openings, one with each cast, will take place on Saturday, June 26 at 8 pm and Sunday, June 27 at 4 pm, with performances continuing through August 8 at Antaeus' interim home, Deaf West Theatre in the NoHo Arts District. Low-priced previews will begin June 12.
